EXCLUSIVE: The L Word creator Ilene Chaiken has teamed with director-producer Joel Silver for a character-driven procedural which, in a competitive situation, landed at CBS with a put pilot commitment. Chaiken will write the drama, centered on an edgy punk hacker girl who teams up with an Oakland police detective to solve crimes. Chaiken and Silver will executive produce with Silver for Warner Bros. TV where Silver’s TV company is based. The deal reunites Chaiken, Silver and CBS. Last season, Chaiken served as executive producer/showrunner on the Silver-produced pilot for CBS Hail Mary. The deal keeps WME-repped Chaiken in the CBS family. She spent the past 8 years at Showtime working on her drama The L Word and its reality offshoot. Silver has a long history at CBS where he produced the cult vampire series Moonlight and, most recently, the Minnie Drive-starring Hail Mary.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…… Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?
What? No way! It’s totally different! That’s a punk hacker chick who teams up with an investigative journalist! this is the Girl With The Snake Tattoo! Totally Different!
Character-driven? Joel Silver?
This Chaiken woman must have a LOT of imagination to agree to this.
Let’s call this “Girl with the Dragon for a Producer” and be done with it.
I just wish CBS stuff wasn’t so cozy and safe… But I understand it’s what keeps the Geratalors watching.
Look up Sammy Glick in the dictionary you’ll see a picture of Silver himself.
Lipstick lesbo with a tattooo. Hmmm. So original.
Negative comment.
After the series finale of “The L Word” I vowed to never watch another Chaikin show again. It was such a horrific let down.
Stieg Larsson.
Just thought I’d drop the name into the conversation…
Hilarious to read this article right after the one on the Harlan Ellison copyright suit.
I was about to say something with a punk hacker girl would never work on CBS, but then I realized I loved Abby on “NCIS,” so if she’s a lovable punk hacker girl, it could be a hit. Good luck finding another Pauley Perrette!
Sounds edgy.
Wow that would be intersting show.
yes it sounds similar to Girl with dragon tatto but there are a lot of series based on an idea of a movie.
I wonder who will play the main female charcter. I hope they cast Kate Moennig
)) She was perfect for the Dragon tatoo girl anyway.
