Prospect Park’s upcoming Internet-delivered network will be named The Online Network. It is slated for a January 2012 launch with new episodes of canceled ABC soaps All My Children and One Life to Live as well as first-run entertainment and lifestyle shows, with plans to add reality, scripted comedy and drama programming later on.

The Online Network? I guess Internet Network must’ve been taken.
Could Prospect Park hired a branding firm to help it name its site? Seriously, TOLN.com is a lame name. It’s not memorable or sexy or funny. Think about those great Hulu commercials. These people need spend some time in Silicon Valley. Hell, aren’t these people from Hollywood? Where’s the creativity???
Really? How creative. They better have some interesting marketing planned to get viewers attention. Not impressed.
Yes, because “Crackle” is doing so well with its sexy, memorable name and sassy ad campaign.
Once the page is bookmarked in Aunt Em’s computer, the only thong that matters is content. And given the demographic of the shows they are airing, the straightforward approach is a lot smarter than some overthought jumble of clever.
Not very creative, but does it need to be? It’s simple and gets the job done, and better something simple instead of something made up and tacky.
Simple and memorably is good. Simple and generic is not. There are a gazillion online networks. Which one is the Online Network?
How much did they pay a consulting agency to come up with this?
Well, it’s a dull name.. but better than the strangely named “SyFy”…
The last thing that they need is to have the old-timers confused. It’s short and simple, straight to the point. I think it’s a wise decision.
I don’t think they needed to hire a branding firm, as too emphasis is put on the sizzle these days and not the steak. However, they could have just asked a few employees or interns to come up with a slightly more interesting name.
Agreed, names like Crackle are a joke, but it seems like there would be a happy medium to find something more memorable, simple yet creative.
Come on, what do you expect from these guys? They’re daytime production execs who are about to be retired (or should have been fired YEARS ago) for programming that no one watches.
The deck chairs have been arranged, but the titanic is still sinking, fast.
Yes people do watch these progams and it is really ashame that all they want to do is put talk shows on every channel and not all people like to watch the same topics as all the other talk shows are doing. If ya’ll want to take off good progams they should give us like famliy movies and like how they use to have after school special they need to put things like that on. That you can learn from not just the same teen moms and bad kids. And put something that could infulince them and all the other views to help in differnt progams. And stop all these show that show you how to get away with it. Like stealing and robbing and sex and people having afairs and killing they need more family shows like they used to show in the 70′s and 80′s. You use to be able to learn differnt ways to cop with the thing we deal with in every day life but if you ask me all these talk shows and movies are teaching the kids that they can treat people bad and get away with it. And back to the soaps they did show how family should get along it was not all bad. But talk show are not all that great. YES they show bad things to but they also show what happens when you do something wrong that it will come out in the long run. And not all family and friends turn on you. And they show that some people will stick by you. I could keep on going on about this subject. But I thing ya’ll get the point. So thing you for listen
Should have called it “Park.com” Make it a park theme with trees and shit. Or their logo could be a bunch of old women parking their asses in front of a computer.
online network guess all the money was spent by prospect park to not only aquire amc and oltl but also get their shows named that they could not find any creativity to name their network . when they cold have just called it prospectpark channel.
Yeah, they definitely need a branding consultant — hopefully one with a track record. Maybe they could get the guys who test-marketed “The National Broadcasting Company” or “The Columbia Broadcasting System”…
