UPDATE 10:15 AM: Fox just released the time-adjusted fast nationals for last night’s Emmy Awards. The ceremony drew a 4.2 rating in adults 18-49, up a tenth from last year’s telecast on NBC. In adults 18-34, the show posted a 3.7 rating, the highest in four years, since the last time the Emmys aired on Fox.
PREVIOUS: It is still early, but the ratings performance of last night’s Primetime Emmy Awards seems to be in line with the last three years. In the metered-market household ratings, the ceremony on Fox hosted by Jane Lynch drew a 8.5/13. It faced tough competition from the Sunday Night Football game on NBC, which logged a 12.2/19, up 3% from last year’s Week 2 game. Last year, when the Emmys aired on NBC in August before the start of the football season, the show averaged a 8.4/14 household rating. In adults 18-49, early projections peg the Emmys rating at about 4.1, same as last year. Fox has ordered time-adjusted fast nationals, which will be available within the hour. I will update the story when they come. Meanwhile, here is a tracker of household and 18-49 ratings for the past four Primetime Emmy Awards.
8/28/10 (NBC) 8.4/14 (HH) 4.1/12 (18-49)

I guess this is why they put no effort into the show. They can get ratings without trying.
Pro-homosexual, anti-God puke on TV.
Typical Hollywood trash.
It was typical Hollywood trash: immoral, pro-Homosexual, anti-God garbage.
Meh.
LOVE THE EMMYS THIS YEAR.JANE DID A GREAT JOB….
The show was awful. Just unbelievably, unforgivably awful.
Even the Oscars was more fun.
Worst. Emmys. Ever. The ratings have been cut in half in 4 years. That’s pretty telling.
Glad I watched SNF instead of this garbage.. Football rules all I don’t know why anyone would try and go head to head with it.
To LUKE: I LOVE football, but you’re glad you tuned in the Giants v. the Rams?? Really?!? Your comment smacks of phonyism cuz’ the game this week was a nothing game by two teams going nowhere. I skipped the game for the Emmys, and switched over for the end. As for the show, Jane did a good job, though I think she should have just stuck to being an entertainer. But to SMARG: to say this was an immoral show and anti-God is just typical right-wing Bullsheize. The shows the Emmys adored the most were those with a message: that being good counts, that loving people is the most important thing, that life presents us with challenges that can be overcome by courage, convictions and decency. That’s immoral? That’s anti-God? You’re running your mouth off with your right-wing talking points but ignoring the facts. Now that’s typical! Wrong but opinionated!!
Oh, one more thing. Did you notice who won for lead actor in a drama? Kyle Chandler for “Friday Night Lights”! A show about decency, love, and doing the right thing — as well as Football!!
And that’s immoral and anti-God?!?
Wake up and face the reality around you, bubba.
The whole show was nothing but Jane Lynch telling viewers, “love me because I’m gay!”
I would have preferred boring to the embarrassment that happened.
I was crying, how come all those entertainers in one room cant save the event from being such a drag.
it’s an award show. it’s hard to make it that entertaining. jane lynch was great. hosting the emmys is like being in charge of lifeboats on the titanic. tough gig.
Best Tony Awards show I’ve ever seen…
The overall ratings are down 8% from the previous year. Why do the Emmys and the Oscars continue to struggle attracting audiences while other awards shows like this year’s Grammys and Country Music Awards broadcasts score well with viewership? Because most of Hollywood’s A-listers sicken us.
Bingo. Hollywood = sexual deviancy and moral depravity.
Heh, Smarg, are you in a time warp from the 50′s? “Hollywood = sexual deviancy and moral depravity”? Really? You wear a crew cut and carve tattoos on your arm about neo-Nazi’s or the KKK?
BTW, did you hate “The Help” or “Lion King” or “Cantagion” or “Drive” this weekend, ‘cuz those were the top 4 movies. Tell me again, which one of those was promoting moral depravity?
And if you didn’t notice, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was just repealed because America is less about phony idiots like you and more about respect for others, about love, and about moving this world forward.
I’m guessing that you look longingly back to the 50′s as an ideal time. True?
