The wait for HBO Go is almost over for Time Warner Cable customers. TWC is close to an agreement to offer the popular on-demand service, and an announcement might come in the next few weeks, according to a report. Time Warner Cable customers who subscribe to HBO would get access to past and current shows on their computers, smartphones and iPads through HBO Go. The mobile app is available to the customers of nearly every other large pay-TV provider (Cablevision is the only other provider not yet offering it). HBO Go launched in February, and negotiations with Time Warner Cable have been going on since May.

Since Time Warner owns HBO, how can it possibly take 6 months to negotiate with yourself?
Time Warner the media conglomerate and Time Warner Cable are two completely separate businesses.
doesn’t matter. the share the same name and public perception. they of all ppl would know that.
TWC employees received a company email last week saying it was a done deal and would be launch soon. Employees will get the service 1st as a sort of beta test for the service
I am really tired of the whole thing. I always viewed the reluctance of TWC and Cablevision to offer this service was based on the realization that it is only a matter of time before consumers will form a direct paid relationship between, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and other cables premium channels.
This will eventually cut cable companies out of this revenue stream. It is inevitable, and happenning already.
At this point I do not knopw what the truth is, but I will be really surprised if Time Warner Cable really offers HBO Go, or anything like it ever.
This would be great. Many cable providers already offer the service. Too bad older iphones don’t run the HBO Go app.
You’re like the idiots who rate the app low because you think Time Warner Cable is a sister company to HBO. Google.com that foolishness and educate yourself!
They’re not related anymore. It happened a while ago.
This is not entirely true, TW is still the majority stock holder in TWC.
Do more research before calling others an idiot.
This will be such a huge announcement. Pathetic that it took this long. Time warner sucks. HBO will eventually offer HBO to go directly to consumers for a monthly fee (time warner will make sure it doesn’t happen until they have no choice but to let HBO do it) sooner rather than later Time Warner will end up where it’s headed: an internet service provider. Remember ma bell and land lines.
Time Warner doesn’t suck. I love that my DVR randomly records a blank screen instead of my scheduled program. Who wouldn’t love that.
I hate TWC , but from friends that have cablevision it sounds better. They are just backwards & slow as sh*t to do anything
This is absolutely great news.
Now if only Time Warner will cough up the money for NFL Network and NFL Redzone I could finally stop leaving my apartment.
Time Warner Cable is awful. The offer almost nothing and nickel and dime you for what they do. Not to mention the terrible service and PQ quality you get. I had so many channels pixelating and just not transmitting for days on end. You call them up and all they can do is send someone later in the week to check it out. In the meantime the problem ‘fixes’ itself. Thankfully I was able to dump them this year for AT&T U-Verse.
So, this is only 6 months AFTER the rest of the world gets it, even though TW cable is a subsidiary of TW? I still think they were pushing people to their ipad app. As if anyone would run right out and spend $500 minimum just to talk with their cable services? And the app doesn’t work with anything but an ipad. No ipod touch, no android.
And cablevision is just a bunch of bean counters. After acquiring NBC and its cable channels they canceled one of the consistent ratings producers ‘Eureka’ on the Syfy channel. Too expensive, they said. If cablevision had owned the Syfy channel from the get-go, it probably would never had been made. This would have been a shame. How many shows are there which the whole family can watch, genuinely because they all want to watch the show (not because they are being ‘nice’ to the family, or lost a coin toss). My mother would have said ‘penny wise and pound foolish’. The latter day translation is that they are cutting out something which will bring returns in the long run, in order to cut spending in the present.
Still waiting
Still waiting.
Still Fucking waiting
And still f-n waiting……..
Still waiting. In LA of all places. Not like this is a big town or anything. Oh, and fuck time Warner.
A month later and I’m still waiting…
TWX…the leader in fast an innovative operations.
This was a hoax right? It’s never happening.
Still waiting. My DVR box is from like 10 years ago too. Fuck time warner…
I too despise time warner. Comcast / Xfinity rules.
Still waiting. So frustrating to see the download on my Roku box, but can’t do anything about it. Was this a rumor?
Thinking of opening a complaint with the FCC and any other organization that will listen to a false advertising claim against TWC. I’m sick of seeing the HBOGO ads on TWC when in fact it’s not available to their subscribers.
The bottom line is that cable providers are monopolies that are broken down by city, area code and state. Since they have their own assigned areas they don’t have the need to compete with one another. If costumers could choose between different cable companies within their area these companies would do what it takes to keep their costumers happy by providing as their name implies the wanted services…
