The sizzling Tuesday season premiere of Sons of Anarchy, which drew 5 million viewers, is a tough act to follow, but FX’s veteran firefighter drama Rescue Me put on solid ratings performance for its series finale last night. The closer of the show, which ran for seven seasons, posted 2.3 million viewers, the most for the series since the Season 4 finale. In adults 18-49 (1.3 million), it was the most-watched episode since the Season 5 premiere.

Rescue Me got “solid” ratings. Over at TNT, Memphis Beat is “on the bubble” with twice that. Guess cable networks have different standards.
a great finale!!!!!
Hands down one of the best shows ever written…
Our long national nightmare is over.
The biggest tragedy of 9/11 was it gave us Rescue Me. This show was so bad it should of been on Showtime.
Anyone, and I do mean anyone at all, that can watch any episode from all 7 seasons and say one bad word about that show, has zero credibility, is intellectually lost, and should be completely banned from ever making a public statement about a television show ever again under penalty of jail time and or sever torture for contributing to the unbelievable stupidity, at times, of some Americans.
This was beyond any shadow of any doubt, perhaps the single best written television drama’s in the history of Television.
Anyone that says it isn’t has absolutely no idea what good writing is, and no idea what so ever what makes a good TV show, but most importantly, has never had to write one of these things and that’s why they don’t get it. They also just plain flat out have no clue what Talent or Creativity mean.
This show had it’s pulse on the heart of America and as late a few weeks ago, one of the episodes became a reality… almost identically a Reality…when NYPD Firefighters were told they couldn’t individually participate this week at ground zero.
Now anyone that posts how bad this show is/was has an agenda for sure because they had to have known this and commenting without having known it just prooves flat out how many idiots you have walking around that think they know everything. Say they know everythng, and in the end, know nothing !!!
Spartacus is a clown. First off, Rescue is not a very good show. The first 2-3 seasons were entertaining, but the rest was just plain bad. Second, how big must his ego be to think that anyone who disgrees with his opinion is a idiot?
Rescue Me – ROCKED!!! The best commentary on the post 9-11 decade. Thanks Denis — and House 62!! You will be sorely missed.
I really enjoyed this show.
i agree with jeff…
rescue me was not good.
how many dream sequence did you need? how may surreal moments driving down the wrong way of a freeway? how may tommys drunk, hes sober, hes drunk, now tommys daughter is drunk and tommy is drowning here in a holy water…now she drunk and hes making her drink more…now tommy got shot…now another monologue, oh and now another monologue…and lets have another monologue.
oh and every year lets kill another relative. and now the girl threatens to drink if she doesnt get her wedding…and now tommy faints.
but you see tommy was the first person ever in the entire world to lose a loved one so he couldnt deal with it. even 10 years later…. a real disrespect to everyone except for spartcus.
the show was ok at the beginning but like anything on showtime it became a parody of itself. yes, i know fx, but should of been on showtime it was that bad.
i enjoyed watching rescue me from time to time, but could never quite stomach watching it consistently what with all the bad language and continuing alcohol problems, but I did watch the series finale, and i think it demonstrated all of the high points that made the show awesome, without getting bogged down in some of the more questionable drama
I think the show should have ended with the episode before the finale. The looks on the guy’s faces when they realized there was no way out was great. That being said, I was prepared for a tear-jerker (tissues and all). I am okay with the intentional misleading of the previews for the finale except for the clip of Janet crying and slouching against the wall which was not in the finale. I used my tissues to dry my eyes from laughter when Lou’s ashes were let out of the box at the same time as the windows were opened. I don’t understand why Tatum Oneil had such a big part when Sheila did not. Finally, I would’ve liked for Tommy to have looked over to see not only Lou but Jimmy, Johnny and Jesus and then just driven away.
