EXCLUSIVE: After successfully adapting two young-adult book series for the CW — The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle — Kevin Williamson took out an original drama pitch this season. Now, after interest from multiple networks, that pitch just landed at Fox with a put pilot commitment. The untitled project, from Warner Bros TV and Williamson’s studio-based Outerbanks Entertainment, is described as an edge-of-the-seat thriller about a diabolical serial killer who uses technology to create a cult of serial killers, and the FBI agent who finds himself in the middle of it. Dawson’s Creek creator Williamson, whose writing debut was the 1996 serial killer/horror smash Scream that launched the movie franchise, will write and executive produce the Fox drama project. WME-repped Williamson is co-running Vampire Diaries with Julie Plec after the two developed the vampire drama together. He is shepherding Secret Circle with fellow executive producer Andrew Miller, who penned the original script for the show.

At least Fox won’t let him getaway with his CW schtick on their network… maybe this is good thing for Kevin?
Can’t wait. Awesome writer. We need more scary programming.
Secret Circle is a success? It made it on the air, but its numbers are already looking shaky.
Perhaps Kevin can lure Katie Holmes out of “retirement” from the small screen…
Sounds like the cw pilot “cult” from 06
We need more horror on tv.
I heard this pitch. Its GENIUS. A charismatic Manson type using social media to brainwash and lead his masses. This is total Event television and will be the next X Files if he pulls this off. Kevin has researched his subject matter very well and has created a colorful but authentic sociopath for the villain.
Kevin! How nice to see you posting here!
He did awesome things for the serial killer horror genre with Scream, so this could be great.
Williamson’s comeback in recent years is rather remarkable. Rarely had a golden boy fallen so far and had to work so hard to climb again. Makes me happy. Seems like a sincerely nice guy.
I wonder if he will actually pen this or if Julie will like she has been doing with all his stuff since and including Scream 2.
i”m glad Kevin’s writing a new serial killer show…but seriously i want him to write scream 5 because that’s his baby scream is what started his career and if he doesnt continue the series and someone else does it just wont be the same….look what happen to scream 3…so please Kevin write scream 5 finish what u started.
