EXCLUSIVE: In a departure from her High School Musical past, Vanessa Hudgens has been set to star alongside Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in Frozen Ground, the Emmett/Furla Films thriller that is being sold here in Toronto, with Voltage Pictures handling international sales. The film, which will begin shooting October 17 in Anchorage, Alaska, marks the feature directing debut of Scott Walker, who wrote the script.
Pic is based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen. Cusack is playing Hansen, regarded in the community as a respected family man. In the span of 12 years, he abducted more than 24 women, flew them into the Alaskan wilderness, and hunted and murdered them. Hudgens will play the one teenage victim who escaped. When she returned to tell her story, nobody believed her. Cage will play the Alaskan State Trooper who finds her on the street. Together they work to bring Hansen to justice.
Frozen Ground is being produced by Randall Emmett and George Furla, along with Amber Entertainment’s Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky. Envision Entertainment’s Stephan Martirosyan and Remington Chase, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and executive producers. Emmett/Furla Films this weekend set a $250 million film find with Envision Entertainment. Hudgens is repped by CAA.

Congrats to the fab people working over at Amber.
yes! Amber is looking really good – go Mark and Jane!
Vanessa Hudgens is one of the best young actresses in Hollwood today. Shes choosing different..edgier film roles that are breaking away from her Disney past. Kudos to her.
This is great news. I sensed a long time ago (when watching Bandslam) that this girl has acting skills that haven’t yet been tapped. I’m sure she’s going to impress people in “Gimme Shelter” and “Frozen Ground.”
I really have to hand it to Vanessa. She is chosing really interesting, challenging roles. And really just going for it. Definitely one to watch out for.
This really is a great choice for Ms. Hudgens and i hope the film does her talent justice. Seems like a good picture, but since when is 50 in the EP game?
Are you guys sure you’re talking about the same Vanessa Hudgens I know? Cause that one is defnitely not “one of the best young actresses in Hollwood today”.
then you’ve missed her best films and it defines what you determine as best. She actually extremely talented.
Ok, I’ll bite. Which films should we be seeing, because I’m with isf, Hudgens can’t act her way out of a paper bag. Her most challenging role was bearding for Zac Efron.
I thought she was wanting in the new Quentin Tarantino movie! But anyway working with Nicolas Cage is a plus also.I don’t really see it getting much interest though in the story. It hardly made the news down here.Well anyway it would be awesome in 3D.
a movie to watch out for! vanessa is a versatile actress, can’t wait to see it.
Live in Alaska sure would love to be on the set.
I`ve seen “sucker punch” and “bandslam”, i´m happy for her and hope that this film will be a succesful one.she´s an amazing actress, i´m sure her acting skills will be shown in “gimme shelter” at least in “the frozen ground”
Where do I go to for the Frozen Ground “Extras”
she was amazing….. ilove her
