We’ll get plenty of Jane Lynch on Sunday when the Glee star hosts the Primetime Emmy Awards. But now, here she is as her tracksuit-loving, glee club-bashing character Sue Sylvester in an exclusive clip from the third season premiere of Glee, which airs Tuesday. For the past two years, Sue Sylvester has been trying unsuccessfully to shut down the New Directions glee club. Now, she takes her efforts to the state level, making suspending all public school arts programs a cornerstone of her campaign for Congress. Here is the campaign edition of her Sue’s Corner weekly segment on the local Ohio TV station.

I’m almost certain you could balance the federal budget and save the American educational system at the same time if Sue’s proposal was enacted in reality. America needs these types of common sense ideas! Look for it to become a plank in the Tea Party platform.
I agree fully, even though it’s a fake platform. The arts are making kids too dam soft, America is becoming too dam soft.
“The arts are making kids too dam soft…”
The arts aren’t responsible for that. The “you’re special / everyone’s a winner,” parenting/teaching mentality bears that blame.
That is the real problem. There is no competition anymore because too many in this country think they deserve success. No one is actually trying to get success on their own.
“The arts are making kids too dam soft…”
That is SO not true. The arts does SO much more than a lot of people think. Music, drama, and art can be very powerful. If I hadn’t participated in music all throughout my public school education, I don’t know where I would be at this point in my life. It gave me so much confidence and so much more.
Don’t worry about Americans getting soft. The art of combat is so much more expensive and successful. Thanks to Generation Afghanistan, enough bad ass hardened ex military in America to frighten any Chinese wannabee general for decades to come. You should worry more about loosing the grip on the soft powers in the world. Culture wins hearts and minds. Asia (K-Pop, K-TV, C-TV, C-Movies) winning over big markets. So yes, invest in the soft power may be a much cheaper way to be the hard on on the world.
Political correctness is making ALL of America too damn soft! We are churning out a bunch of bitchy little girls and whimpy little boys. It’s spilling into the high schoools, colleges and corporations, movies, arts, society. Whimpy men & bitchy women! No class, no dignity, no self-control.
I am going back to Glee if and only if Mark Sailing and Darin Criss have a brokeback moment in the janitor’s closet……that’s my final offer.
Their names are Mark Salling and Darren Criss. And personally, I will only go back if they include Cory Monteith is a 3some.
This is getting old. Sue Sylvester needs to get a new storyline. It was funny for a while – but now it’s just stupid, redundant, and played out. Worse, it’s like a really bad sitcom as it’s not even believable in Glee’s own heightened reality.
Will and Emma in bed together? Wow that was fast…
But it seems they’re still not doing the nasty. Yeah, very realistic, Glee.
To hell with the politics lets pay attention to Wemma and the adorable cuddling.
Glee needs to Flee. Show is way past the air run that it should have.
She’s got a point actually. I don’t want my taxpayer money going to arts & crafts programs, much less Glee clubs. Firefighters and police departments? That’s one thing, but crappy productions of Our Town is something else. I’ve been in those stupid productions. It’s just a bunch of kids goofing off and wasting time. For what? Get rid of the NEA while you’re at it.
Sounds like someone is still bitter they weren’t cast in the lead role…
Yep, let’s preach acceptance and tolerance … except for those fascist neanderthals who disagree with us politically. Thanks, Glee!! Thanks, Ryan Murphy!!
Of course, you know, this means war!!
Mark Salling is not very attractive, and does Corey M goes out of his way to play Finn like mentally handicapped boy? Darren Criss is not an actor. period.
Yes, I’m afraid that is Finn’s characterization but the actor Cory (not Corey btw) is very very different. Watch Cory in some of his interviews and find out.
How can you say that Darren Criss is not an actor? You also spelt Cory’s name wrong. Maybe do some research before posting a comment
Something must be wrong with me (not) ‘cuz I couldn’t find anything wrong with this clip. And I was afraid I was going to have to stop watching Glee…
This character reminds me of Homer Bedlow, aka, the great actor Chales Lane, who tried unsuccessfully to shut down the Hooterville Cannonball on PJ an Green Acres..what similarities.
Waiting for the Glee backlash/viewer erosion/inevitable cancellation. Enough already.
I’m so tired of Glee.
And I’m glad the movie tanked.
Obviously none of you are teenagers, because you’re getting technical with a frigging tv show. Seriously? Get a life. Glee is much more than a tv show to half of the teenagers in the world, okay? It’s saved lives. It’s showed people that it really is okay to be different. It’s showed people that it’s okay to go for your dreams, no matter what it takes. It’s also showed, no matter how different you are, there is someone there to love you.
So you idiots need to stop getting technical with a tv show and go back to your boring office jobs. Thanks.
To all of you who say that the arts are a waste of money: Just think about the music you listen to and the movies, TV shows, and plays that you watch- of any genre. Think about how much these forms of entertainment enrich your life. All of these musicians, songwriters, actors, producers, directors, etc. had to start somewhere. For almost all of them, it was in their grade school years. Maybe they had the lead in the high school play or took music lessons provided by the school. Once you’re out of school and you’re in your twenties, it’s kind of hard to pick up a new instrument; let alone make a career out of it. Without publicly funded arts programs, many of the musicians and artists you admire never would have gotten their start. Just imagine what the world would be like without music, art, or movies- pretty boring!
Plus, despite what Sue says, studies have consistently shown that children who are involved in extracurricular activities, including the arts, are more likely to do well academically.
Of course, most kids who are exposed to the arts in school never become famous; but participating in art, music, and theater programs can be a wonderful experience for kids. I am in my 30′s and I still look back fondly on my high school memories of being in the school plays and singing with the chorus. They are some of the happiest memories of my youth. Being involved in music and theater allowed me to make new friends and did wonders for my self-esteem.
The arts are what makes us human, and it is inhuman to eliminate them. Keep the arts publicly funded.
The arts teach you discipline, focus and determination — on top of helping you appreciate the world around you. What makes one soft is XBox and PS3 and sitting on your butt watching TV all day. (yes, i am a gamer, too.)
Have you seen how stuckup and self-centered these kids have become on the show? If this was somewhat based on real life, I would be cheering for a no-nonsense person like Sue over patronizing, sanctimonious glee kids and faculty.
Yes, the Sue storyline is getting old, as are all the rehashed storylines (Quin goes bad, Rachel does anything to win, Kurt is gay)
