Starz today released a trailer for its new drama series Boss. It stars Kelsey Grammer as the ruthless mayor of Chicago who is diagnosed with a degenerative mental condition that only he and his doctor know about. Observers describe the show as the former Frasier star’s Bryan Cranston/Michael Chiklis moment, a reference to Grammer’s transition from playing a lovable sitcom leading man to portraying a flawed hero on a dark cable series similar to the leap Cranston and Chiklis took with their Emmy-winning roles on Breaking Bad and The Shield, respectively.

Hey look, a promo with proper music, a decent mix, etc.
James Brown-The Boss
Would of made it more compelling.
Anyways I don’t about it being a cranston/chiklis moment. Starz lineup does not give a lot credibility.
This looks HORRIBLE. Wow. I thought Chris Albrecht was smarter than this. 10 episodes for this shit, please.
There are only eight episodes for the first season, and the first one is phenomenal. But if you don’t like stellar performances and superb writing, I’m sure there’s a ‘Law & Order’ spinoff that should suit you well.
You are wrong, my friend, Chris Albrecht is the only man in TV with the ball sto do something like this. His instincts are as keen as ever. Everyone will watch this out of curiosity and then he’s got you.
I think you need glasses! it looks amazing, innovative with fantastic performances. Is rreality tv more your cup of tea???
Will watch
Looks promising
Reminds me of Profit, sort of.
Saw this and it’s amazing. Kathleen Robertson has never looked hotter, Kelsey is a shoe in for the Emmy, and that Jeff Hephner is a star!
I remember when this was a subplot on West Wing.
If Kelsey Grammer can stop acting as tho he is on stage, I say winner.
saw pilot for this–its VERY good. kelsey is unbelievable in it. it’s going to hit.
Kelsey looks good doing drama and its about time Kathleen Robertson is back on something!
The pilot for this was far better then I expected… far better then I expected. How well the writing holds together will tell the story, but the cast is good, and it’s one of the better pilots I’ve seen this year.
I saw it too. Gus van sant is brilliant. It’s next level.
Looks interesting. When does it premiere?
Bryan Cranston called, he wants royalties from K Gram for stealing his performance… it looks awful. Over the top, self righteous, salacious and just plain derivative… Van Sant hasn’t made an interesting movie in decades. I assume most of the above commentators are sock pockets for the producers involved.
