Jim Watters, the longtime President and General Manager of Universal City Studios and Universal Studios Operations, has announced that he will be retiring at year’s end. He has been with the studio for more than 35 years and has reported to Ron Meyer for the past 15. Meyer tried to get him to stay, and persuaded Watters to stay on as a consultant for a few years. He just announced, so no movement yet to fill the post.

Jim is a class act. He has always been the consummate pro…and, a fun guy.
Ron Meyer and Universal have some big shoes to fill.
Jim is a solid rational guy and a first-rate problem solver. He will be sorely missed, but he will have more time for Harleys and Horses.
Jim is fantastic. I recently saw Jim coordinating security at Universal with a revolver tucked into his waistline so anyone that was thinking of causing trouble could clearly see not to mess with this crew.
Not too many guys like that around anymore.
have fun Jim, you’ve earned it
Universal will not be the same but maybe now I won’t see my cousin only once a year if that. You deserve all of life’s blessings.
Jim, Cindy and I feel as though we have known you for years through you parents whom we have known for over 25 years. One day we hope to meet you. Congratulations on your retirement and all your success.

We do not know Jim personally, however we know his parents George and Mary Watters. Through our long friendship we feel we know Jim and his brother George. Both Jim and George along with their dad George have a long history with Universal Studios. Congratulations to Jim and his family for their many years of dedication.
Congratulations to a stellar guy. Kathy and Dennis Sweeney
Jim, knowing you through your parents voice, we have grown to admire you and your work from afar. We met your parents years ago and from the first meeting they have spoken of you with graciousness respect and love. Congratulations to both you and your family for your retirement. May you spend every moment enjoying your time and reminiscing your years with Universal.
WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF MEETING JIM & FAMILY, THROUGH MOM & DAD WATTERS & HAVE SEEN THE TALENTS THAT RUNS IN THIS FAMILY.
THERE’S NO DOUBT YOU WILL BE MISSED BY UNIVERSAL JIM, & WE WISH YOU WELL ON YOUR DESERVING RETIREMENT.
