EXCLUSIVE: Ugly Betty developer/ executive producer Silvio Horta is back at ABC with a new dramedy project, this time teamed with Easy A and Friends With Benefits director Will Gluck. ABC has bought Mrs. Miller, an action comedic drama from Sony Pictures TV and Gluck’s studio-based shingle Olive Bridge Entertainment. Kell Cahoon (Psych) will write the script and will executive produce with Horta and Gluck, while Olive Bridge’s Richie Schwartz will co-executive produce.
Mrs. Miller centers on a retired CIA operative whose quiet, comfortable suburban life is turned upside down after she’s pulled back into the world of espionage. Determined to keep the two worlds secret and separate from each other, she must now lead a double life where the queen bee housewife in her neighborhood can be as menacing as an arms dealer in Beirut. This is the seventh sale for Olive Bridge in its first development season under the deal with Sony inked in May and the first on the hourlong side, joining 6 comedies. For Horta, also in his first year of a deal at Sony TV, this is the third project this season, along with a comedy based on the blog Texts From Last Night with Happy Madison and Latino family dramedy executive produced by Jennifer Lopez. Horta is writing and executive producing both shows, which are set up at Fox.

This idea gets developed every year. It’s always good for a script order if decent auspices are involved but it never goes anywhere.
This sounds like a cool take on what is admittedly a sort of tired idea. I agree with the poster above but I think in the hands of someone like Horta this could actually be a really fun show. I hope we get a chance to see what they do with it.
America keeps rejecting this idea and they keep doing it. “Chuck” would have been cancelled if it wasn’t on the worst network on TV.
And all of the “Mad Men” clones are cancelled already along with the 80′s retreads and “Tera Nova” is an expensive bomb.
Hey I got a great idea for a show. A powerful rich person from a big city, must go back home to a small town and start all over!
Ari was right… The higher these guys rise, the least creative they get.
Silvio is a great guy. Good for him!
Um, if the ‘auspices’ are Kell Cahoon – we can feel good about this project.
I agree. He is like a firm, juicy grape in a world ridden with raisins.
Actress Lea Thompson starred in a series of Hallmark movies, titled Jane Doe, featuring the exact same storyline, with the very same lead character life challenges.
What about Undercovers title?
This is the one you pitch after they’ve passed on all the ideas you believe in, and you’ve reached the stage of trying to think of something -anything – they might buy.
did these people not learn anything from nbc’s “undercovers”?
Silvio is awesome, congrats. An extremely talented and gifted writer as well as a good human being. One day perhaps he’ll develop some of his darker scripts he’s written.
