EXCLUSIVE: ABC has handed a pilot production commitment to a comedy spec by feature writer Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love; Cars) The untitled single-camera project, originally developed at Warner Bros. TV, centers on a normal family who moves into a condominium complex to find out that everyone else living there are aliens. Helmer Chris Koch (Modern Family) is set to direct the pilot, which is executive produced by Fogelman, Koch and Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment. ABC Studios is producing the pilot, which is expected to hire a casting director shortly. This is ABC’s second off-cycle pilot order this season, along with the Kirstie Alley-starring The Manzanis, also executive produced by Kaplan for ABC Studios. Additionally, Kaplan is executive producing the midseason ABC/ABC Studios dramedy GCB (form. Good Christian Belles). Fogelman, repped by WME and manager Eryn Brown, has close ties with ABC parent Disney Co. on the feature side. He co-wrote Cars, Cars 2 and Tangled. Koch is with UTA.

The old script was excellent. Dan is a great writer, not to mention, one of the all-time great guys. Smart buy for ABC. Good for Dan.
Sounds great but Koch is a hack.
Soes wbtv still have a piece of this? Did they let a Fogelman project go?
Project seems kinda one note, but we’ll see…
ALF meets Melrose Place?

Good for Dan. Talented and a great guy.
I think Fogelman is a writer who’s better suited for TV. That may sound like an insult but it’s not meant to be.
“CARS?” WHOO boy, that was awful. Looks like ABC has another dog on their hands.
So basically this is THE GATES only instead of supernatural creatures in the suburbs; it’s aliens it’s aliens in condos…whatevs Rip-Offs work sometimes…
Scott & Duhmonster….what exactly is it that you two idiots do?
I’ve read the script and let me just say: shooting this as a single-cam is a huge mistake. These jokes and this premise or going to feel stupid and forced as a single-cam, but as a multi-cam it would feel comfortable and warm like a snuggie.
Imagine 3rd Rock as a single-cam and the problem is obvious…
