I’ve learned that CBS is finalizing deals for back orders to rookies Person Of Interest and Unforgettable. Neither of them has been the breakout hit that CBS’ new comedy 2 Broke Girls has been (that series was given an early full-season order a couple of weeks ago), but they have both performed solidly in their time slots and are coming off ratings upticks. Unforgettable (2.5/5) on Tuesday was up two tenths from last week, while Person Of Interest last Thursday drew a 2.7/7 in 18-49 and 12.6 million viewers, up two tenths from the previous week in the demo. It benefited from a Big Bang Theory repeat as a lead-in vs. How To Be A Gentleman the week before.

I guess that had to order something…
In the hallways at CBS, they know they’ve got a big Thursday problem, but they have nothing else to put on Thursdays so they have to stick with POI.
The only reason Person of Interest had an uptick on Thursday was because they aired 2 Big Bang Theory episodes before it, rather than BBT and a DOA new comedy. The ratings were a lot higher in that first hour, which helped POI.
Awesome news. Love PoI.
II’m not a huge fan of TV, but every now and then a good show comes along. Watched Game of Thrones, before that BSG, before that…Cheers? But I love Person of Interest. Honestly didn’t think I would but a fun show, very sharp and cool characters. Thank goodness it’s staying on the air
Count me in. Thursday is the only night look forward to now. POI has been consistently good. Also did not think it would be as much fun to watch as it is esp since it has some dark moments. But the action and the dry humor and the surprise moments are all there. You cant really compare it to a comedy hit – comedy is a different mindset. I dont watch any comedies and none of the new dramas have grabbed me but Thursday night gimme my Cavezel.
POI is growing on me. They are giving Jim C. more personality. I hope to see it continue.
“Unforgettable” is utterly forgettable. “Person of Interest” at least keeps mine.
love the grittiness of person of interest and love Jim Caviezel.
Love Person of Interest. Finally something different than the usual shows
Person of Interest is a great series. Glad to hear it’s about to get its back nine.
Unforgettable is certainly stylish [having the series pilot directed by the same guy who did the Swedish Girl with the Dragon Tattoo pretty much guaranteed that], and when its content matches its style [they're getting there, but... slowly], it’ll have more than Poppy Montgomery to recommend it. For now it’s a perfectly adequate procedural and nothing more, but now it’s got time to work on its substance.
One thing about CBS that I have always respected is that it’s always about the bottom line with them. No favorites for the most part, it’s usually do people watch the show or not (relative to their other shows of course). As a creator, they aren’t overly inspiring, but at least with them you always know what you’re getting.
I had high hopes for PoI… Untill I heard it was on CBS. Sad to waste an interesting premise on a CBS procedural.
So happy for Unforgettable! Love this show!
I am also getting into PoI in a big way. Loved last weeks ep. Poi Fish is right – both the show as a whole and Jim C really grew on me over the past weeks.
PERSON OF INTEREST has the personality of a hammer. The leads are as stiff as Finch’s neck. And UNFORGETTABLE is so tired. CBS needs more shows like THE GOOD WIFE. Now, that is a TV show.
I totally second that.
PoI is unwatchable. But I like Unforgettable and this week’s epi was a smart departure from their formula; gives me hope they’ll be flexible with their storytelling.
Great news. POI is the best new show on television.
I know they’re trying to show Jim Caviezel’s character as a repressed, damaged man who is coming back to life by saving people, but they need to speed up the arc. He’s robotic. They also need more characters with whom Finch and Reese can interact.
I like a longer arc – but I like long books too. Prefer a ‘chapter’ approach rather than having everything piled into the first few eps like theyre scared theyre gonna get cancelled. Makes for better watercooler speculation.
Yeah they could use a few more to interact with but I like Caveziel and the dirty cop – Kevin Chapman – even when the scenes get edgy they are funny somehow. Anyway we are a pretty picky-choosy group at my watercooler and most of us are glued to POI.
I agree with you about longer arcs. POI so far has had a good pace. I like that they are using a chapter/episode approach, but also building relationships with the dirty cop, the female detective looking for the “guy in the suit,” and so forth. Based on the last episode, I think we may see the grateful judge in episode(s) somewhere down the line. The writers can use the judge as an ally or an adversary or a mix of both.
Totally agree. I love a good book and this show is like that, peeling back the layers 1 chapter at a time. Love POI.
Love unforgettable , we at the police athletic league really think Dylan Walsh is the real deal ! He must have wanted to be a cop at some point in his life , he really has that role down ! Great show !! Good for CBS , that why their number one !!!
I agree ! I had some concerns at the beginning about Dylan , who played a doctor on nip tuck for a number of years , however he has convinced everyone he can play a my cop ! Great acter .
they/re,, don’t you mean Bill Mc down
Great news, “Person of Interest” is the best new show of the season.
POI is terrific … Michael Emerson just terrific and it’s gerat to see him helm a show; he was great in LOST, but shines here. Caviezel is treemndous too. Keep them both! Will be great to see more of the backstory of each. Was great that the show with Brett Cullen ended with a bronze bust of him in the lobby … as the founder.
Hope he’ll return!
Unforgettable is awful. I gave up after one and a half episodes. The guy from Nip/Tuck is a terrible actor and I rolled my eyes so much when the frozen-face redhead spoke, I made myself dizzy. GREAT news about POI though – love Jim C and Michael Emerson is awesomeness personified.
Love POI and the excellent cast. This is a show that can only grow with writer’s imagination. Finally something worth watching.
This makes me happy! A full season hopefully means more seasons to come, and I just cannot get enough Michael Emerson.
Just thought you should know.
Poi is best new drama of fall.
