EXCLUSIVE: Chris Coy, who just finished a recurring role on True Blood, has landed a new regular role on another HBO drama series, Treme. David Simon and Eric Overmyer’s Treme, which will return for a third season next year, chronicles the life of New Orleans residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Coy, repped by TalentWorks and Main Title, will play L.P. Everett, a young, urban reporter who is new to New Orleans. He co-starred in the Sundance movie Little Birds, which will be released next year.

Chris Coy is a rising star, i worked with him at Main Title, great guy and humble too!
Best of luck Chris!
Treme makes me want to vote republican. I have zero sympathy for any of those characters. It also makes me want to cut welfare.
Well, that says more about you than it does the show.
“I have no sympathy for people who lost their lives, homes and belongings due to a natural disaster and are struggling to get their lives back, all the while not receiving the help/aid they are entitled to”.
Yeah, they sound real unsympathetic and unsavory.
As for the comment about cutting welfare, I’m not sure what that has to do with the show.I don’t recall anyone on Treme receiving welfare.
Anyway, I’m glad I’m not really acquainted with someone like you.It must be nice going through life without any struggles or feeling sympathy for people.Good luck with that.
Whenever I happen to land on Treme while flipping through the channels it’s always some guy playing the trumpet or drinking at the bar.
I’ll pass.
Lived in New Orleans. Lived through the hurricane. Have also lived in LA, NY, DC and must say have never seen poor black people the way I did in NOLA. Unfortunately, with the exception of this demographic, the rest of the folk there (mostly white people, believe it or not) have a reputation for gaming the system/taking advantage, so I’m split between both commenters. As for Treme, who cares – it just isn’t a very good show.
Saw ‘Little Birds’ at the festivals earlier this year. Coy is an amazing young actor. Reminds me of a young Edward Norton.
I had the same exact feeling after seeing “Little Birds” at Sundance. While he wasn’t the lead teenager, I found him the most captivating. It’s nice seeing a young actor who has some edge to him.
He seriously looks like Ed Norton in that photo. I haven’t enjoyed much of True Blood lately, but I always love when this kid shows up looking all stressed. THE VOICES!
Why is this show still on the air??…quality aside…there is no audience. No audience…no show. And it’s had more than enough time to find that audience.Let’s move on.
So, you’re saying they should take a good show off the air because it doesn’t have a large audience?Don’t we all get upset when a network does that to a good show we like?I appreciate HBO sticking by Treme.
God forbid we actually have a show on the air that isn’t a police procedural, medical show, legal show, sitcom, reality show, teen drama, cartoon or sci-fi/fantasy series.
No need to set quality aside – the quality is suspect, too. It really is a show about nothing. It’s amazing that the same team behind the Wire runs this show. And HBO’s renewal just seems stubborn, like someone doesn’t want to admit they made a mistake.
Cool – more white characters on Treme! The show about nothing
To David Simon:
What happened? Season one was so good… Season two… Well, there was no point in actually finishing it.
Chris Coy is a great and humble guy who has gone far fast at a pretty difficult time for actors everywhere. Nice to see him making his way.
“Treme” is a show that resonates with so many who truly know NOLA. And David Simon is to be congratulated for using so many of the locals in his show. Good luck to Chris.

Thanks for introducing me to New Orleans via Treme. The music, the revival of the city, and the spirit of the residents is captivating . The city is being restructured by so many factors …good and bad. This show summarizes some of the lives of those who are everyday people trying to survive despite a horrific disaster. I can just imagine having my life turned upside down by a natural disaster .I want to thank the Treme producers for providing revenue and a visual exposure to New Orleans. I enjoy the show and look forward to Season 3+.
Had the pleasure of working with Chris Coy when he was a young man in high school. Even then he was passionate and driven to succeed as an actor. A hard worker, plus his innate acting talent certainly has his career heading for the ‘stars’. Hope Treme is a part where he can showcase his depth. We support you Chris & will begin watching Treme now – best of luck.
