EXCLUSIVE: Lexus’ broadband channel L Studio has picked up Diablo Cody’s Web talk show Red Band Trailer. The first new episode of the series features the Oscar-winning screenwriter interviewing John Krasinski (video below). It will be followed by interviews with Jack Black, Zooey Deschanel, Joel McHale, Amanda Seyfried and Sarah Silverman, among others. Cody first launched the series, which is taped in her Airstream trailer, in summer 2010 on YouTube. It will now join L Studio’s lineup, which includes such series as Lisa Kudrow’s Web Therapy and Amy Harris’ Puppy Love. “Red Band Trailer is an offbeat talk show that allows me to have one-on-one candid conversations with friends in my trailer,” Cody said. “Because of our relationship and the laid-back vibe, they tend to open up more than they would in a traditional talk-show setting.”

This hipster nonsense shtick is SOOOOOO TIRED.
THANK YOU!!! I call it the “quasi-snarky, super self indulgent tone”…
Diablo Cody is a failed stripper. Let’s talk truth here folks.
Is she hoping to get an interview show on Oprah’s OWN network?? Yikes, enough with interviewing celebrities! What a waste of her talent! I guess all the talk shows & Access Hollywoods are not enough for the public desire to learn everything there is to know about B-level celebs.
How is it a waste of her talent? How is this different from her deciding to do a podcast? I’d much rather watch Diablo interview celebrities than BIlly Bush.
Fantastic, was wondering why her YouTube videos went Private last week. Her terrific interview with Kyle Chandler is sorely missed by the interwebs
Can she PLEASE just go away already? She made ONE overhyped, overpraised, ultimately not-that-good script that got her an Oscar probably out of the Academy’s sense of either “let’s do a rags to riches story” or “wow we don’t give these to girls very often…”
Leave me alone, Diablo. Leave Hollywood alone.
Is it me or is this really really bad?
It’s not you.. The self delusion of wit here is painstaking.
Funny stuff. Makes for interesting banter.
Thanks John, I haven’t seen “Game of Thrones” yet because I don’t have cable, but was looking forward to getting it on DVD. Now you’ve ruined the whole thing for me. The Whole Thing! The only way to make up for it is you lend me your screener copy of the show (I know you have one! [I don't])
Diablo Cody is so 5 years ago. And who regrets the name change more, her or the Rock? “Diablo Cody” is the lamest name i’ve ever heard in my fucking life.
watched a bit of the video. seems like a boring version of Inside the Actor’s Studio.
eww. i feel dirty now after watching that dreck.
It’s awesome, that she’s back with Red Band, it was my favorite web-series
Is this as bad as Anderson Cooper getting teary on camera while his mother tells him she stayed alive for his sake after her other son’s suicide? No. But it is every bit as bad as Anderson Cooper starting up a talk show so he can take his shirt off every eight minutes.
She is so self absorbed it’s crazy. Can’t wait for the 15 minutes to be over. I’ve never seen anyone come to this town and try so hard to be friends with famous people. Enough.
Hey coffee shop screenwriters, if you can’t spin your sour grapes internet comments into something mildly entertaining, good luck selling those scripts.
LOL…do not understand all the hatred towards Diablo Cody, Juno, Strippers, etc… The same people who so whine about “hipsters were so five years ago” are the same hipsters who were praising Diablo five years ago. Some people need to get a clue..and probably a career change
What’s interesting here is the assumption of two things:
1. That anyone who isn’t onboard with her quirky snark is a frustrated screenwriter and not simply an average person who can tell good writing from an irritating affectation.
2. That she herself doesn’t write screenplays in coffeeshops & restaurants.
The former is debatable. Some of them might be, but all of them definitely aren’t. The latter is flat out untrue. Because she does. And that has been documented here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/22/fashion/22fempire.html?pagewanted=all
YOU CAN’T STOP THE VIDEO AFTER IT STARTS PLAYING! MY EYES!
Ok. I think there is a growing sense that Diablo Cody may be fast-exhausting her 15 minutes of proverbial fame on the waning strength of one smash-hit (and yes, “Juno” was a smash hit!) film.
That said, where is the bonhomie and esprit d’ corps amongst creative types in Hollywood? Certainly not in this post. This thread is so darn venomous and full of vitriol. Can we all just take a “chill pill”?
Sheeez !!! If people got as flustered up about the financial crisis (and the Wall Street shysters!) or the President (and his waffling) than Diablo, this country just might be in a better state. Doncha think?
Diablo Cody is just like Quentin Tarantino… in terms of her acting and on-screen appeal. In terms of her writing, she’s a less funny, less charming version of that really annoying girl in your creative writing class.
Wow, all the negative crap coming at her is kind of amazing to me. Seriously, I agree with Bobby the saint, and I don’t often agree with him, but really- why all the vitriol? As for her 15 minutes being up- let’s see, she was an EP on United States of Tara, she’s got another film coming out, directed by Jason Reitman starring Oscar winner Charlize, and she’ll be directing her first feature next year. Yeah, her 15 minutes are up. She’s fun, these folks she’s interviewing must be doing it because they like her and if you don’t want to watch, then don’t. But all this negative snark, it’s just so misplaced and reeks of jealousy, or envy, or more likely, rank pettiness.
It’s basic sexism. If you really dig deep beneath the surface of these comments. And yes, I’m male.
People don’t throw this tenor of criticism at successful men. She’s not a failed stripper. She’s an Academy Award winning screenwriter. She’s relatively young and attractive, especially when compared to the average writer around here. It’s jealousy when the comments section flares up with high-school snark along the lines of “go away, nobody likes you anyway, you’re not as great as you think you are.” Her talent or lack thereof isn’t hurting you. You are trying to hurt her because she threatens you. It’s sad.
where the F**K are the old episodes?! all i want to see is the jason bateman interview again. and now all the older episodes are no longer on youtube – or L studio. that is nonsense!
