After the frighteningly high opening gross of Paranormal Activity 3, the appetite for “found footage” horror films clearly hasn’t been sated. Here’s a teaser trailer for Amber Alert, a film that will be shopped at next week’s AFM by WME Global, which is repping worldwide rights. The logline: When a group of friends decides to follow a car they’ve seen posted on an Amber Alert, things start to go very wrong. Amber Alert was directed by Kerry Bellessa and is a co-production between Underground Films and Bluefield Entertainment.

Looks amazing. Scary. I wanna see this!!! Great idea for a movie.
You kidding me? The amber alert is so people will see the car and call the police. These kids are just stupid.
They did call the police. they talk to the police. they met with the police. If it ended with that the movie would be over in 10 mins and be boring.
Next Paranormal Activity? Reminds me of when that movie was being shopped to buyers
Hardly a trailer or teaser at all.. odd these people have video camera’s but no cellphones on hand.
Very odd to me.. but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt and wait for more trailers/news.
Yes, I always wonder why people never have cellphones or find themselves in areas with no coverage the whole damn time! But it’s still a nice premise and makes a change from furniture being dragged along with string. At least, I hope this is a string- and jarring violins-free film.
they use their cell phones with ease.
I like it. Great idea!!!! Has potential. Hopefully it works….
For all the entertainment people on this site, i’m surprised the first comments weren’t about the fact that this looks like amateur hour. lame.
these are amateurs. They are two friends shooting something for fun, real people. Not film makers. it’s found footage. so I guess you are lame for not getting that point of the film.
This looks kinda like the stuff we film at college.
Maybe it’ll be good…but it just looks kinda sloppy here.
Oh Steve Jealousy is an ugly thing keep it to yourself buddy.
The first two bloggers in this forum obviously worked on this. The acting is awful… this is silly.
That’s because They aren’t actors. This really happened. we aren’t dealing with ghosts or Aliens or witches this is a real thing that really happens to real people.
Yeah, right. blah — Thanks Chris. Did you direct this or something (I’ll assume your real name isn’t, Chris)?
Putting no credits on the movie doesn’t mean it’s real — duh, it’s an obvious marketing ploy — one which is well overused.
Maybe it’s just me, but did that look like a parody of the cinema verite/handheld craze? I look forward to whatever “clever” reason the story has them unable to call the police to report the car from the amber alert. And also learning what mental illness the protagonists have that inspires them to take the law into their own hands and break into the abductor’s house.
The movie can absolutely prove me wrong – and I’d love it if it did. But right now, it looks pretty absurd.
they do talk to the police, they meet the police. they work with the police. there cell phones work just fine. what got into them was saving a little girl from being raped. still absurd?
Interesting idea for a movie, though it does suffer from the “why don’t they call the cops?” problem. In all honesty, probably 75% of horror stories don’t work as well in the present day since people can just call for help. Thus the ever present “oh my battery died” and “ugh, no service here” lines in every current horror movie.
The trailer didn’t show much though.
they do call the cops, their cell phones work great. they have service! Cell phones don’t always save the day in real life. little kids die every day from abductors despite the marvelous invention of the cell phone. Tell me I’m wrong.
Maybe not the worst teaser I have ever seen, but pretty darn closed to it and I am admittedly a sucker for these “found footage” films (when done well).
I mean, what did we see? The purpose of a “teaser” is to “entice”.
No, I don’t want the entire movie played out for me in under sixty, but come on!
yeah you probably don’t want to see the first found footage movie that deals with a real problem that real people face every day in the real world. it might make you feel something besides bitterness. Just wait for Cloverfield 2. that will be good!
“real footage”? Nobody’s been that ignorant since Blair Witch. Like Hollywood trying to squeeze as much juice of out the remake model which results in 95% awful films, this Paranormal Activity gimmick is now the next thing the suits will grab onto and not let go until they’ve marketed these lame films down our throats to the point we’ll need to puke.
If I was abducted and was told that the characters in this trailer were following me in order to save me, I’d happily strike a deal with my kidnappers not to let the screaming drama queens anywhere near me.
It looks tired/ Super 8 shot on Super 8…
I think it’s a great premise for a feature. i.e a killer uses the amber alert as bait to get themselves followed… wait a minute…?! D’Oh.
I don’t know what you guys are talking about. Such haters. This looks awesome. I got the chills and my girlfriend is bugging. This looks really cool!
is this a comedy?
I don’t know do you think it’s funny when a little girl is kidnapped and raped? if you do then yes it’s a comedy…. HA… HA….
I would be quick to hate on this “film” too. But, bottom line, I’m sure it cost pennies to make, and it will bring in Bank from the average film goer. I’d greenlight this crap too.
This looks terrible. Like an SNL skit or something.
Please explain how it is an SNL skit. I mean yes it’s not funny just like SNL. but other than that?
Hmmm… the actors seems all wrong here. I like a good found footage. REC. Paranormal’s are fun enough.
Full disclosure. I worked with Kerry (the director) a few years back on a spec commercial. But I haven’t yet seen the film. To quell many of the responses, I know him to be an articulate and well thought out individual with a shrewd sense of what works in film. So the fears of the most basic quandary’s many people ask here will be put to rest quickly. RE: Cell phone usage, not calling the cops, etc. Oh, and most cell phones have video cameras on them too, with some actually shooting movies on them to much fanfare. Give a young film maker a shot, we all know that the industry needs it!
Cynicism much? I think this looks interesting.
Pure drek!
Hmm… Looks lame.
Why does it look lame Fourteen year old little boy? use your WORDS.
I saw a teaser of this back in april or so. The first teaser is much better.
What’s drek? Same 3 versions of the same movie done very cheaply, at least the first time around called PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. It’s just brought in lotsa millions. That’s all. And this is what Hollywood does more than anything else. Outside of porn. And all the hating’s not gonna stop it. Just don’t see it.
Or DO see it and realize you were wrong about hating this movie.
To its credit, the trailer does show the kids trying to call the police and also yelling at the sheriff’s car to point out the culprits.
To its discredit… everything else.
WHAT EVERYTHING ELSE?? you have seen a minute of the movie!
REALLY!?!?! I admit, the concept has legs, but if there’s a compelling film here, it DOES NOT MANIFEST in this teaser! I’m sure the people at WME and BLUE BALLS entertainment are racing to cut a better trailer in order to sell this! I love these kinds of films, but there is something seriously off about this trailer. Oh well, sure it will make a lot of money. But seriously; what kind of moronic couple follows a kidnapper around? CALL THE COPS; roll credits!!! I’m sure this Kerry Bellessa chick knows what she’s doing though. I’ll wait untill Netflix!
HE does know what HE is doing. give it a chance my friend.
