Phase 4 has released a new red-band trailer for Another Happy Day, the film written and directed by Sam Levinson that won him the Waldo Salt Screenwriting award at Sundance. High-strung Lynn (Ellen Barkin) and her three troubled children (Ezra Miller, Kate Bosworth, Daniel Yelsky) are hurled deep into the heart of domestic darkness and primal family dynamics when they attend the wedding of her eldest son. While a long-simmering feud rages with her ex-husband (Thomas Haden Church) and his hot-tempered wife (Demi Moore), Lynn struggles against her cold, disdainful mother (Ellen Burstyn) and her distant father (George Kennedy). With an apathetic husband , (Jeffrey DuMunn) at her side, Lynn is left to wander in a generational emotional minefield. The film opens November 18.

Looks great! Can’t wait to see the film!!
saw it at sundance. audience ate it up (I was mixed)
Love the idea of George Kennedy in a supporting dramatic role. He was always more than Joe Patroni and O.J.’s foil. I’d see it on that basis alone.
holy shit. this looks amazing.
Amazing…really?
Sold.
Don’t bitch about the state of modern film if you’re not willing to see an exceptional cast in what looks to be a mature classy film!
Saw it at Sundance, was one of my faves
The two Ellen’s look great!
The movie looks so so – feels like been there done that dysfunctional family. Wait for DVD for me.
Caught this one @Sundance. Mixed emotions on it. Ellen’s performance is definitely over the top, but she could very easily garner some sort of awards buzz. Demi Moore is pretty wooden and one-noted, especially in contrast to Barkin. Overall I enjoyed the supporting cast, and Ezra Miller plays an entitled, drug addicted brat brilliantly. Don’t mess this one up, Phase 4.
can someone explain to me why kate bosworth is in this movie? Seriously anything anyone can tell me would help.
Mom – “Get out of here, you son-of-a-bitch!” Son – “You just insulted your self.”
Interesting. At first it looks like another stereotypically quirky indie movie about rich white people and their fake rich white problems. I like that the longer the trailer goes, it appears to get pretty brutal.
Honestly though, does every indie film have to be about dysfunctional families? And do they all have to have the melodramatic line (or one remarkably similar), “you just got out of rehab, why do you still take drugs?? YOU’RE KILLING YOURSELF!” I don’t know, the Sundance brand in many ways has become a parody of itself.
Like I said though, it looks like it gets pretty brutal toward the end. Consider me curious. But please, no more rich white indie problem movies after this!
Saw it at Sundance. Tone was all over the place and the directing was amateurish at best. Film will make less than 100k.
George Kennedy?! Count me in! However family dramas featuring a skinny, pasty angst-filled kid are a bit overdone, no?
Only complain is that these women have to stop w/ the fake lips! It’s so jarring and it takes you right out of the movie.
“When are you going to grow up?” “Ah, somewhere near the end”
Great line.
Also saw it at Sundance. It was really an excellent, raw movie at times, also very comedic. Difficult to do both but they pulled it off. If this is marketed right, it could make some serious coin. Phase’s Four’s chance to shine. I would definitely recommend.
Saw it at Sundance – Great movie!! Not predictable which I love – too many movies are. Excellent blend of drama with some comedy. Ellen gives a great performance – wouldn’t be surprised if it gets her a nomination. Can’t wait to see it again when it’s out!
