Here’s a trailer for Sony Pictures Animation’s Arthur Christmas, the first pic to see the light under a three-year deal with Wallace & Gromit producer Aardman Animations. It premieres November 23. James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton do the voice work on the 3D film, which shows just how Santa is able to pull off Christmas each year.

Didn’t Disney already do this??
I dunno. I love Aardman to death, but like the above commenter I feel like I’ve seen this story many times before. And, as I write this, I feel like I’ve seen this comment many times before. I’ll shut up.
Looks amazing. should do very well. My two kids are already bugging me about it.
Why does the Arthur look so much like Linguini from Ratatouille?
I don’t understand the need to go down the high tech route in a Christmas movie. I think a more traditional (even if modern) story, using magic instead of technology, would be enough.
Prep & Landing: The Movie: With “original” characters: Not done by Disney.
Ah… Happy Holidays from Uncanny Valley!
Looks dreadful. Hop was the same sort of story (for Easter of course) and Prep & Landing covered this territory already. Not sure what it is with the Aardmans, but their features are just dull. Perhaps it’s the Britishness of it all or maybe it’s simply the length of the film, but they just don’t seem to make anything other than short films that are worth sitting through. Hate to say it, but maybe Jeffrey Katzenberg was right to dump them after ‘Flushed Away’.
