Not to be confused with the OTHER English language version the British produced with Saoirse Ronan, Mark Strong, Tom Holland, Olivia Colman, Phyllida Law, and Geraldine McEwan, that came out in the UK back in July. Anyone know why Disney is taking so long with this one? It’s been a pretty weak year on the animation front. “Arrietty” could have a been a decent Oscar contender for them.
Can’t wait! Sensei Miyazaki, the Master does it again.
This looks great, but there was already a Borrowers movie made in 198 with John Goodman. How did Studio Gibli get the rights to adapt this again?
Nice! Can’t wait for more Miyazaki magic. Though I’d rather watch it in Japanese with the subs……
Agreed. And since Disney no longer seems interested in making a token amount of subtitled prints for big-city art-houses, we’ll again be denied the original voices until it hits DVD. Sigh.
After the dreadful Tales from Earthsea (direceted by Miyasaki’s son) I thought Ghibli couldn’t continue Miyasaki’s legacy, but after seen Arrietty in UK I’m relieved to say that Ghibli is in safe hands with Hiromasa’s helm.
I will forever love Ghibli and this movie did not disappiont! Disney DID do a good job on the dub of this one, though on the promo they try to take a bit more credit then they deserve… nontheless, the cast obviously cares a lot for the story and the movie could not be complete as we know it without them. Long live both Disney and Ghibli.
