Let’s just give Williams the Oscar statue now. This looks fabulous!
For this or Meek’s Cutoff?
eddie redmayne is a pleasure to watch on the screen and the stage. loved him in RED and I can’t wait for this movie.
I agree about Eddie Redmayne! I knew Michelle Williams would be great, but this looks like it could be a career-making role for Eddie.
I have to admit that I wasn’t sold on Michelle as Marilyn, but this looks quite good – and what a great supporting cast!
Michelle Williams is so terribly good. She always has been.
There are a few moments where Michelle Williams gets it spot on so much so it sent chills down my spine.
Michelle Williams is a great actress, but she lacks Marilyn’s lusciousness.
Eddie Redmayne, another good actor, lacks sex appeal.
So, no, this movie looks like it will join Madonna’s “W.E.” as a wannabe.
Kenneth Branagh looks awesome tho.
looks amazing!
it looks terrible.
GREAT TRAILER. I’m there.
Emma Watson is in this? I am there! Her post Potter career looking promising.
This looks excellent. I hope it’s a big hit for producer David Parfitt; one of the nicest men in showbiz.
It looks terrible.
Zero star power as well. Most people don’t care about any of those actors except Harry Potter chick.
It will not perform well.
Wow, great cast – I’m in 100%
I had zero interest in this film or these actors IN this film until I saw the trailer. I’ll be there opening weekend! It’s this year’s KINGS SPEECH.
Going to see it Sunday at NYFF…looks okay but we’ll see. Not sold on Michelle WIlliams yet.
I’m one of the few people on the planet who doesn’t get the “marilyn monroe” thing but… okay. When I was a kid I found her scary (she was long dead at that time but you couldn’t escape her), what with the hair and that weird way of talking and all. Yikes.
I love Michelle Williams and I’ll see it because she’s in it and it looks good.
Are all of you people praising the performance we’ve seen in this trailer blind or something? I’ll grant you this – Michelle Williams is a great actress. But in no way, shape, or form is she pulling off Marilyn Monroe. Not even for a second. I don’t see Marilyn on screen there – I see Michelle trying to act like her, and failing at it. Period.
Fully Agree!
Weird – the “Shall I be her?” “Who?” “Marilyn!” scene looks like a direct steal from a scene in the Catherine Hicks “Marilyn” TV bio pic from thirty years ago (“Do you want to see her?” “Who?” “Marilyn!”).
I want to love this movie, but Branagh seems more like Olivier than Williams seems like Marilyn. Great cast, though, so I’ll be there hoping for the best.
Williams is a fine actress, but from the trailer she doesn’t seem to quite convey sultriness of Monroe. Her voice isn’t connecting with the late Monroe either.
That said, Williams is no slacker and the portrayal may be fun to watch (just wish it was better casting).
After seeing this trailer , I still don’t buy Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe. Michelle has no charisma nor sex appeal. Every time I see a Michelle tv interview, she seems like she is clinically depressed , and she always seems to be close to tears.
Although a fan of Michelle’s normally this underwhelmed. Pandering,
CORNY!!!
This looks quite good and beautifully shot..
It’s MY FAVORITE YEAR with a chick.
