  • I hope you’re not counting on “movies” to continue being made on film.

    ARRI, Panavision and Aaton have all ceased production of film cameras within the last year to focus exclusively on design and manufacture of digital cameras.

    In time, parts and even film stock will be harder and harder to find.

    Film, as the standard “look” will fade in coming years.

    No need to weep. Things change.

  • I agree. Totally took me out of the story. The whole time I watched Tilda Swinton’s maternal reactions to the possibility that her son is a beast I was thinking “This would look so much better in black and white Super 8!!”

• This looks like it could be a contender for film of the year for me. Looks amazing. Can’t wait to view this. Tilda is breathtaking and it’s so awesome to see John doing some more serious roles again, mixed with the comedies. I still love him in Gangs of New York. What a badass.

  • It came out in the UK on Friday. It really is a contender for best film of the year. Ezra Miller is a star on the rise as well.

• I saw this at Cannes and it is wonderful. Amazing performances all around, especially for Tilda and John C. I wasn’t going to see this film intially, but, after it premiered at the festival, the post buzz was too tempting to ignore. Easily one of the best films at the festival for me.

• I hated We Need To Talk About Kevin. It was the most pretentious film of the entire year. The directing and the editing was atrocious too.

• Deadline didn’t release the plot point. I was at Toronto Film Festival and it was in the plot summary info on the online and printed catalogue.

  • I didn’t say Deadline “released” it. I said they stated it, even though it wasn’t shown in the trailer.

    You were at Toronto – good for you. However, the majority of people who read Deadline and will see this film were not at Toronto, and thus would not have been privy to said plot point had Deadline not stated it (without any spoiler warning whatsoever, I might add).

    • You’re kind of a dick. Anywhere you go, the film’s plot clearly states the son goes on a murder spree. The back of the book says it too.

      If you rely on trailers to always dictate the storyline for you, I’m sure you’re regularly disappointed after leaving a theater.

      • You’re right, that plot point is stated pretty much everywhere online. Thank you for pointing that out. That’s a far better argument than the one Film Freak made about the info being widely disseminated at TIFF. Given that the plot point is stated everywhere, I no longer take issue with Deadline’s description of the film. Instead, I think the people marketing the film have done a poor job given the lack of uniformity across their marketing and promotional materials.

        How was I “kind of a dick?”
