ABC To Order Family Comedy Pilot Starring Kirstie Alley
EXCLUSIVE: Rebecca and Carla together again! Rhea Perlman is reuniting with her Cheers co-star Kirstie Alley on a potential new multi-camera comedy series, this time on ABC. Perlman has closed a deal to co-star opposite Alley in Alley’s ABC comedy pilot The Manzanis. The family comedy written by sitcom veterans Marco Pennette and Dave Flebotte stars Alley as Angela Manzani, an opinionated wife/mother who, along with her Italian American family, moves 
to a quiet New Jersey neighborhood where they clash with their new, WASPy neighbors. Perlman will play Angela’s mother in law Camille Manzani. ABC Studios and studio-based Brillstein Entertainment Partners are producing, with Pennette, Flebotte, JoAnn Alfano, Aaron Kaplan and Jason Weinberg executive producing. Since their six-season stint together on Cheers, Perlman and Alley have appeared together only once — when Perlman played herself in an episode of Alley’s Showtime docu-series Fat Actress.

Um No, sorry. When you get Danson, Harrelson, Ratzeberger, Long & Wendt to join the cast THEN you can call it a Cheer’s reunion.
So maybe it’s only a “sorta” “cheers” reunion,but,hey something is something.I remember these two ladies from their “cheers” days & I absolutely adore them. It may be a bit of a stretch having her be her mother-in-law because of the closeness in age-but-who cares.I am certain we can look forward to a lot of sarcastic humor courtesy of these two women & I can’t wait! One thing:hopefully,it will be filmed in front of a live audience-if not-please-no annoying laughtrack:these ladies don’t need that.This show has the potential of being very successful,as,I, along with other fans have missed the days of “cheers” & those types of series which at times, was absolutely hysterical. I think people remember “cheers” fondly because it was funny without having to be as filthy & disgusting as so many comedies are today. I think funny will always be funny:I saw a rerun of “three’s company” the other day & they had me laughing so hard-the reason I mention that is because “cheers”,”three’s company” & those type of programs were much funnier than most of the “comedies” on tv today & ,tv programmers today could learn a lesson from the way things used to be! Anyway,I am so looking forward with anticipation to having kirstie & rhea back on a regular weekly basis. I wish “miss howe” & “mrs.tortelli” all the best on this new series. Re the age issue between kirsty and rhea: perhaps Angelina’s
husband could be younger than Angelina – maybe much younger .it would provide an additional storyline with lots of opportunities for hilarious wife vs. mother-in-law conflict .
I am SO excited. The only way this can get better is if it’s shot like a “mock” housewives show. Like they are stereotypically rich and loud and annoying. She’s really good looking and can pass for 40 so I’m really interested.

I’m more interested in this for Rhea Perlman. I met her at SDCC last year and she couldn’t have been nicer. She was sitting next to her husband, who was getting all the attention. I asked her to take a picture and she was really nice and seemed really appreciative.
sorry for anyone excited over this… the show is created and written by abc love child marco pennette. this is the guy who created the classics i’m with her and crumbs. and destroyed samantha who? and ugly betty. for some reason abc loves him. great casting but this show will be mediocre at best with 80′s style corny punny comedy. maybe marco can pull something good from his butt… however i really doubt it.
