CBS Nears Back Orders For ‘Person Of Interest’ And ‘Unforgettable’
Almost a week after word first surfaced that CBS was making pickup calls to the producers of freshmen Person Of Interest and Unforgettable, the network has made the full-season orders to both series official. The two join breakout comedy 2 Broke Girls, which also has a full-season order, while there is no word yet the modestly rated new Friday medical drama A Gifted Man.
Unforgettable‘s ratings performance has been largely on par with the series it replaced, The Good Wife, which relocated to Sundays. Still, with an average of 14 million viewers, the crime procedural starring Poppy Montgomery and Dylan Walsh ranks as the most-watched freshman drama this season. In adults 18-49, Unforgettable averages a 3.0/3. It is up 3% in both viewers and 18-49 from The Good Wife‘s numbers in the hour last fall. Creator Ed Redlich, Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman are executive producing for CBS TV Studios and Sony Pictures TV.
Person of Interest, which stars Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson, ranks a very close second to Unforgettable in the rankings of most-watched new drama series this season with 13.97 million viewers. Its 18-49 average is a 3.3/8. The mystery drama from Jonathan Nolan, J.J. Abrams and Warner Bros TV inherited the high-profile Thursday 9 PM slot from veteran CSI and is currently running down 11% in 18-49 and 9% in total viewers vs. CSI‘s performance in the hour last fall. Bryan Burk and Greg Plageman are also executive producing.

I really like Person of Interest. But I’m a bit surprised by the unrealistic expectations that a brand new show will automatically garner 20+ million viewers. I don’t think that will ever happen again. Not in this day in age of reality shows. I can see Person of Interest climbing to 17-18 million over the next couple seasons, like The Mentalist did for a while.
I agree w/JohnDoe. There is just too much competition – some people might be giving The Office and Whitney a chance, some people might be hanging on for the last few eps of Project Runway. There may be a World series game on Thurs. And then there are those who watch nothing on the first run, instead watch the next day online. However it shakes out, glad to see the full season for POI – more and more into that show with each week.
Love Persons of Interest so I’m really glad to see it get a full season. Unforgettable? Uh, not so much…..
Person of Interest is the first Broadcast Network TV series I’ve watched in years.
IF they can maintain or even improve the writing it could have a nice run.
The actors are worthy.
Love unforgettable. ! Gets better every week, Dylan and poppy are great together.
Unforgettable? Seriously? Wait let me close my eyes and see if i can remember the vile of crack in the corner these execs must have been smoking right before they placed the order.
Vile of crack? Snarky really lands when you can can spell. Being funny helps too.
Unforgettable gets better and better every week !! Dylan Walsh can play any kind of character ! Dr. On nip/tuck ! Serial killer on stepfather, loving husband on secretariat , to a great ny cop !! I know what its like because I am a cop ! Poppy is great , but we don’t dress like that !
Oh thank goodness!
In other news, rumors that the show’s producers announced they were considering filming Poppy Montgomery in something other than a tight tank top remain unconfirmed.
Both these shows are merely fillers. Networks can’t survive if the best they can do are shows that do worse than the aging shows they’re replacing. And let’s keep in mind that their 18-49 averages aside, both shows have trended downwards and are below those averages now.
Networks need hits. If AMC can get huge 18-49 numbers, which are bigger than these shows, with Walking Dead, there’s something very wrong at the broadcast companies that don’t come close, given their relatively far bigger reach.
If “Person of Interest” is a filler its the best filler on TV right now. CBS seems to be doing fine.
Person of Intrest is a most enjoyable show. I love the twists and turns they are able to make with their plots! I watched tonights episode,”The Fix” with Zoe Morgan (Paige Turco). I would love to see them use her charactor in future episodes.
Love Person of Intrest. I do watch Unforgetable. But enjoy Person much more.
Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Trueblood are also great.
I have been hearing good things about Hell on Wheels.
‘Person of Interest’ is the best drama on TV this season. You can’t take a bathroom break or phone call though; you might miss something!
Just watched the latest show (11/10/11). GREAT!
Thanks,CBS, for giving the go-ahead on more shows!
Love this show and jim.keep it going.
Person of Interest is one of the best acted series on television today. It helps that James C is one of the leads and seems mostly likely to be able to do what he does. I also like his boss. They work so well together. Hope it goes on for a long time.
POI is a great show. Why are there so many reruns?
