EXCLUSIVE: Jim Carrey is negotiating to star with Steve Carell in Burt Wonderstone, the Don Scardino-directed New Line comedy. Carell plays the title character, a Las Vegas magician who breaks with his longtime stage partner and finds himself upstaged by a rival hip street magician who is stealing his thunder. Carrey is coming off Mr. Popper’s Penguins and I Love You, Philip Morris. The film’s produced by Carell’s Carousel banner. Carrey last made The Number 23 with New Line, but he launched his star there with The Mask and Dumb and Dumber.

Would Jim Carrey be playing David Blaine? That sounds hilarious.
They’ve worked together two times before — in “Bruce Almighty” and “Horton Hears a Who.” This could be funny. Certainly the kind of movie Jim Carrey should be doing. Interesting that “Bruce” was a Carrey vehicle and this one sounds like it’s a Carell vehicle.
They were both in a movie together before, Bruce Almighty.
I would watch this. Jim is such a genuine guy, as is Steve. I can see this being a winner, they booth ooze charisma.
Love this script – really good casting idea and these two are equally strong enough to be great adversaries! Sign the contract, Mr. Carrey!
YES!!! This film has got funny written all over it. Don Scardino does a fantastic job of directing and producing 30 Rock. According to IMDb, Jason Reitman is polishing the script. Great team. Fantastic premise. And, not another remake. Looks like a winner in my book.
Something tells me you didn’t actually have to look at IMDB to know that Jason Reitman is polishing the script. Especially since it doesn’t actually say on normal IMDB that Jason Reitman is polishing the script.
This sounds like a good role for Jim, but I really wish he go back to making movies for Universal. It seems like he has better success over their with hits like Liar Liar, Man on the Moon, Bruce Almighty, etc.
Very excited to hear this. Scardino’s a gem, Carell and Carrey are hilarious AND it’s written by Jonathon Goldstein & John Francis Daley who wrote Horrible Bosses. Can’t wait!
Carrell-Carrey-Scardino-Goldstein-Daley. There’s your Avengers!
I didn’t think the script was all that great.
Apparently, Jim Carrey did.
Finally! Carrey getting back to his roots! This is going to be hilarious. Carell and Carrey will kill in this.
I don’t Carrey to be over-the-top,and I want Carell to stop playing the sadsack roles.
Jim Carry is one of the funniest comedians my great country has ever produced! And this movie sounds hilarious!!!
