John Miller has been named a Senior Correspondent for CBS News, it was announced today by Jeff Fager, Chairman, CBS News and Executive Producer, 60 MINUTES and David Rhodes, President, CBS News. Miller will have a major role in the mornings on CBS News. He will report for all CBS News platforms and broadcasts, including occasionally for 60 MINUTES.
“This is very exciting news for us. John is a man of many talents and one of them is that he is an extraordinary reporter,” said Fager. “It will be great to get him back on the air again, even better that he will be on CBS.”
“You can’t help but want to be around John Miller—and that makes him a natural broadcaster,” said Rhodes. “He will greatly enhance our already strong original reporting on issues of homeland security and law enforcement, here and around the globe.”
Since 2005, Miller has served in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, ending his tour as Deputy Director of the Analysis Division. John worked across the Intelligence Community with the CIA, NSA, FBI, and other agencies.
Before joining the FBI, he served from 2003 to 2005 as head of the Counterterrorism and Criminal Intelligence Bureau and the Major Crimes Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, overseeing both the LAPD’s Major Crimes Division, Hazardous Materials Unit and its Bomb Squad.
In 2002, Miller, along with co-authors Michael Stone and Chris Mitchell, wrote The Cell: Inside the 9/11 Plot, and Why the FBI and CIA Failed to Stop It, an investigation into the September 11 attacks, which drew on relationships developed with intelligence and law enforcement officers in the many years he spent as a journalist covering Al Qaeda as it grew into a global terrorist operation.
From 1995 to 2002, Miller was an ABC news correspondent. In 2002, he became co-anchor of the ABC news broadcast “20/20.” In 1998, he secured an on-camera interview with Osama bin Laden. His diligent investigative reporting over his career earned him nine Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, and an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award.
Miller served briefly as New York City Deputy Police Commissioner from 1994-1995, after working as a television journalist at various networks and television stations from 1973 to 1994.

I have known John since he was the local NBC crime reporter in ny , a great and trusted person ! He will be great at CBS ,very honest and daring !
Glad to see John back on the air. Hard hitting, no nonsense and does his homework. CBS is lucky to have him.
This guy is a treat! Tough guy.
Remember when he was Bratton’s flack at LAPD and he got arrested at security for trying to carry a loaded weapon onto an airliner?!
Because we all know flacks need to be armed with Glocks at all times to survive in the cutthroat world of PR!
File this under: Tool on the Hill
This idea is moronic and a joke! Hey CBS, there are unemployed , no legs vets to line up for your entire news teams, and and firemen to do the weather report for you….and moonlighting CIA for banks, can do on location assignments for CBS…..CBS is filled with smart businessmen! Imagine a news team filled with cops, fbi, war vets….and from CBS we are now bringing you our version of the news…LOL!
All the other stations, just watch CBS does and learn exactly what not to do in business, unless you’re that stupid! Watch CBS and do the opposite! Diane Sawyer is great, was she a former cop? LOL! Barbara Walters was great, was she a cop trained for the news ? Hum….
Congratulations, John. Now save America by exposing the nationwide, fusion-center based program of extrajudicial targeting, persecution and electromagnetic assault (from a cell mast mounted weapon system) directed at thousands of Americans unjustly deemed to be “dissidents” or undesirables, as reported by this veteran journalist at NowPublic(dot)com/scrivener, links above bio.

So glad to see John Miller reporting the news again. He is so talented & have followed him through the years. Welcome Back John.
How on earth did Miller get to be a high ranking FBI official and now talking head? His bio fails to show that he is even a high school graduate, let alone a college graduate. The FBI posts all of the education of HBOs, but never posted anything concerning Miller’s education. This guy couldn’t lead a line to the mens room
