EXCLUSIVE: After her year-long daytime stint on CBS’ The Talk, Leah Remini is returning to primetime with a talent development deal at ABC and ABC Studios. The pact, which calls for the network and the studio to develop a comedy project for Remini to star in and produce, stems from a meeting the actress recently had with ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee. Along with Holly Robinson Peete, Remini made a surprising exit from The Talk last month after CBS opted not to pick up their options, leading to an outpouring of support from fans, including a campaign to get the two back on the daytime talk show. (Robinson Peete also recently booked her first post-Talk gig, an arc on CBS’ Mike & Molly). Remini, best known for her starring role on the long-running CBS sitcom The King Of Queens, has been in demand for comedy series with a string of talent deals at a time when such deals have been few and far between. Last year, she had a development/talent holding deal with CBS and CBS Studios. Before that, Remini, repped by UTA and attorney Jon Moonves, spent a couple of years at ABC, where she also had a talent deal and starred in two comedy projects. UPDATE: For all those of you who asked, yes, Jon Moonves is related to CBS topper Leslie Moonves. They are brothers.

LOVE her. She is legitimately funny both with scripted roles and in real life. She definitely deserves a deal like this, especially after CBS took a crap on her with The Talk even though she gave them like 9 years of great ratings on King of Queens. Can’t wait to see what happens, so to her I say congrats and good luck!
I totally agree with your comments and CBS also crapped on the fans of the talk, at the time, for not giving any explanations for the firing. I do watch reruns of King of Queens, but I don’t watch CBS otherwise.
Love her!! I am so happy “Carrie” is getting another gig. I can watch the King of Queens reruns everyday and I do! She is awesome and I am not just saying that as a New Yorker! Can’t wait to watch whatever she is in.
I don’t think making dirty faces at everyone and being verbally abusive to everyone most days is funny. She was not very happy and seemed to enjoy making fun of all her cohosts at one time or another and it became boring and made me stop watching. That is why it took me this long to know they were gone. Holly was just as arrogant and even more aloof than Leah. She was just less caustic in her remarks. Neither made me feel like they were interested in connecting with the average woman, and I hope they will spend some time finding the right combo. They all need to take a cue from the woman who spent 25 years making us feel like she got us. She was humble, kind and concerned with being as fair to all as she could be. Wise remarks and dirty looks are conversation stoppers, and make everyone uncomfortable, especially since she thought she was funnier always than she ever was. I hope they get it right and find the best team that works for our sake. To blame JC is silly. If they were working on the show, whether she liked them or not, they would still be there. Mrs. O is also quite impressed with herself and says things most of the time for affect and to get a laugh at someone elses expense. If they want it to be a success,they need to find more relatable ladies who can be amusing as well as approachable.
Leah is the most real and funniest person on tv these other women are boring.
I don’t think there is a woman out there who could relate to other women more than Holly Robinson Peete. As a mom, as a woman, as a wife, she always seem to hit the nail, right on the head. I never thought, for a second, that she was or acted arrogant. Sharon Osbourne also can bring real life to the table and I haven’t spoken to anyone who doesn’t feel that CBS and Julie Chen have served a huge injustice to viewers of “The Talk”, by firing Leah & Holly.

I totally agree with Debbie. I found Leah to be very annoying. And Holly as well. I think Holly was more likeable than Leah though. However, it is much better with them gone. I just hope they will find the “right” replacements.
Get a grip..Which show were u watching..They saved this show,,The Talked would hve bombed if not for Holly And Leah..It’s just a matter up time now..Before it’s cancelled…Loved some of the current host now individually but they have no chemistry together…See yah Talk…

Once again, ABC will be shown why hiring has-beens is not a good idea. She is not well-liked by many women because of her brashness and many men, like me, is sad to see that she has lost her looks.
To have a successful sitcom nowadays, you need to be well liked by men and women. Leah is not. Any sitcom that revolves around her will fail.
As to the has-beens comment, look at Tim Allen’s show. It is sinking fast. The same will occur with any show with Leah as the star. She is best suited for supporting roles only.

Lost her looks! Wow, what planet are you on!? She is a gorgeous woman, who has aged since her early days on TV. Do we not all age as the years pass by. She is still a gorgeous woman, and some people (quite a few if you have paid any attention to the backlash) like her outspoken and honest attitude. It seems Joe, that you are like much of the rest of society who has bought into the media ideal of women over 30 being washed up. Women over 30 can still be gorgeous, amazing, wonderful women – and Leah Remini is a great example of that! I am happy to hear she will be back on the air, but would love to see more of her in a talk show type setting. Love it when the real Leah can shine through!

As for her loosing her looks! Have you lost your looks through the years of your life or do you look the same as you did in your prime? We all age! Leah still looks great!
As for a successful sitcom, look at the mother from “Everybody Loves Raymond”. She is successful and Leah will be successful also.
As for stupid moves from ABC, I think they made a smart move. Leah had a long run with both shows she has been on. I hope the day will come when you have to eat your hateful words about Leah.
Bitterness is not a pretty look for you… Leah is so pretty and I’m one of the MANY women who are boycotting The Talk for the way they treated her and Holly. I can not wait to follow her career and hope she has many projects in the future. If you are talking about her “brashness” on King of Queens… it was a character. Yes she’s loud, but I thought she was VERY sweet on the Talk, opinionated yes, but sweet nonetheless.

My afternoons are very dull w/o Leah and Holly’s humor. I also boycotted THE TALK. They made the show and I couldn’t care less about it now. Same said for my large family.
I totally disagree with your comment about ABC and Leah Remini. She was fantastic on the Talk and they are the loosers by letting Leah and Holly go. Also, I along with several others have stopped watching The Talk and many shows on cbs. I am excited to see the new Leah show. She as always will be awesome.

The talk lost big time when they dropped Leah and Holly. One of the draws to the show was the closeness and friendship between Leah, Sara, Sharon, Holly and Julie and dropping almost half of that “friendship” leaves a very bad taste. Sorry Talk, it’s definitely NOT the same show and you just don’t cut it any more!!!!

I am Leah’s step-mother-have been for 30years and I must say, you are an incoherent,ignorant know nothing. Leah has no 24yr old child and she certainly does not have a step-brother-she does have 1 sister, Nicole and 4 step-sisters.

I watch KING OF QUEENS every evening–I end up finding it somewhere on my TV–and I love it! I don’t watch reruns of anything besides KING OF QUEENS and I LOVE LUCY so Leah’s show ranks right up there
