EXCLUSIVE: Rob Corddry’s single-camera comedy pilot Little In Common is no longer in contention at Fox. The network has passed on the project, about three families with different views on child rearing, which starred Rob Corddry, Heather Graham, Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union and Alana Ubach. The decision was made after Fox received the retooled Little In Common pilot. In lieu of a series pickup, Fox in May ordered a second pilot and some changes. Paula Marshall was recast with Graham and another character was phased out. But I hear that, while they liked the cast, Fox brass were underwhelmed with the new pilot, which also didn’t test well. Little In Common was one of two pilots from last season that Fox left in contention in May. The other, Family Album, died in August because of creative differences over its its direction. Word is Fox still plans to launch a two-hour midseason Tuesday comedy block while Glee is on hiatus. There are three series that are virtual locks, freshman hit New Girl and Raising Hope, both with full-season 22-episode orders, and Breaking In, which recently received a 13-episode midseason pickup. All three are single-camera. In contention for the last spot is upcoming multi-camera family comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter, which will be eligible if it earns a back-nine order.

Ridiculously simplistic title and ripoff of Modern Family.
I didn’t see either pilot but I cant for the life of me understand how that amazing cast didn’t make it work. What a shame.
Seriously! How shitty did the script and direction have to be if that cast couldn’t produce something watchable?
The script was good, so it must have been the execution.
Smart move FOX….the idea of the show alone made me cringe, and the audience would have thrown eggs at their TV…..I don’t know anyone could have greenlighted a project with a horrible idea such as three families talking about child rearing , sounds like the Jerry Springer show….something people sit in their trailer parks and watch to talk about! Good pull!
The television business is so stupid; what does it mean if something “tests well”? Presumably all of the atrocious new shows on the air this season “tested well”, that doesn’t mean that anyone watches them. When will television executives grow brains and realize that “testing well” means nothing?
What happened to Traffic Light? I liked that show and it would fit well with New Girl.
Im sure Heather Graham single handedly sunk the ship…The rest of the cast is awesome-especially Rob C, Gabrielle, and Alanna….
I forgot she was added. She is the worst.
I like Paula Marshall but she’s a certified show killer. Now they don’t even make it to series. She should try her luck on cable where shows get cancelled less frequently.
A weak pilot and Marshall in it? I would have said no too.
Paula was not in the second pilot. She was in the first. She was replaced by Heather Graham. This was an amazing cast, written by a very talented writer, Rob Thomas. Big mistake Fox.
Someone dropped the ball on this one because that cast is stellar! Alana Ubach is all sorts of amazing! Of course FOX is the network that took The X-Factor and bungled it’s launch into a disappointment ratings equal to The Voice and not American Idol. Why they insist on trying to compete on Wednesdays/Thursdays when Tuesdays are primed for ratings success is beyond me.
After Raising Hope and The New Girl I thought that maybe FOX was going to start paving the way for more of the next great sitcoms but it seems like that success remains with ABC.
such a shame. It’s funny with a great cast EXCEPT for Graham who was forced down their throats by Fox. typical.
Breaking In was awful, dont know they bring that back
What a shame!!! How long do we have to wait for another amazing Rob Thomas series to make it to the loving audience? I’m starving here, FOX.
Raising Hope, New Girl and Breaking In are great especially the geeky “Breaking In”.
My cousin is actually playing on of the daughters on the show. I’m 16 and I thought the pilot was pretty interesting. Some people’s acting wasn’t all that great but the plot is nice and it’s really funny.
So what happens to the show now? A ton of money and time and energy were poured into it. Does it go into a closet, or will it ever be shown?? We would love to see it.
Good! The kid actors were AWFUL!!!!! Get kids who CAN ACT!!!! Live and learn!
