Director Martin Campbell is in early discussions to come aboard The Fall Guy, the movie adaptation of the Glen Larson-created 1981 TV series. The film’s being developed by producer Walter Parkes. The series starred Lee Majors as a stuntman who worked as a bounty hunter on the side, and the movie’s being scripted by Thor and X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. The project was initially set up at DreamWorks, but it’s unclear at the moment if the studio will be involved. Campbell last directed Green Lantern, but it wasn’t that long ago that he helmed Casino Royale, which for my money is the best of the James Bond films.

No. Just, no.
Is it any wonder that DreamWorks is in the shitter? Really, Spielberg? This is what you guys do with your money and abilities? Your East-Indian financiers must be feeling pretty ripped-off about now. Sad, Steve, very sad to watch you truly getting old.
Don’t bring Steven into this. This is a Walter Parkes project. Last three movies: Dinner for Schmucks, The Uninvited, The Burning Plain.
Why?
The biggest ticket sales come from the demographic that probably never even heard of the Fall Guy. If you tell them it’s about a stunt man who’s also a bounty hunter, you probably wouldn’t even get a reaction. I bet it’s going to be as campy as the A-Team. And where are they going to get another Heather Thomas? All name actresses today are anorexic. They’re not gonna be able to fit her “boobs.”
@Hello. Re-imagine the Heather Thomas role with a Kardashian sister. That should put a few butts in the seats.
A Kardashian put butts in the seats? you are nuts.
This is perfect for big screen adaptation. Love it.
Who is starring? Mickey Rourke? Pitiful. And Casino Royale sucked.
Hey, let’s not get overzealous here. “Casino Royale” was badass!
Err no, Quantum sucked, Casino was excellent
Stop rebooting from antecedents that predate the core audience. If you’re under 21, THE FALL GUY might as well be TRISTRAM SHANDY for all you know or care about it.
Can’t wait. Now I hope Dreamworks puts it’s laser like focus to the long overdue “BJ and The Bear” re-boot and then “McMillan & Wife”.
You know that they’re going to try and cast Chris Evans or some other 12 year old to play the Fall Guy. This concept is in the toilet before they even start filming it.
Who will be “the fall guy” when this movie tanks? Parkes? Spielberg? Maybe they should consult that Magic 8 Ball… oh wait, they are making that into a movie, too. Scarp that idea.
No. Just no.
Thank you.
This is just a bad idea. Do something original. If they make this movie I will pasas on it. I would not even rent it from REDBOX
All these complaints about what people think might happen with casting….Because Lee Majors is such a master thespian that the idea of casting someone who can act in the role is too horrible to contemplate.
PLEASE have Burt Reynolds involved as HOOPER.
(For those 35+? “You’re welcome.” For those younger? – Look it up and watch the movie. You’ll be glad you did.)
they should remake Hooper.
This sounds great! The Fall Guy was a classic series and is a great idea for a high-concept adaptation. Anyone worth the two cents they’re throwing up here should know the development team behind this project is talented and informed. Don’t think they’ll let it go the way of campy remakes like A Team or Dukes of Hazzard… Cant wait!
“the best James Bond film.” Come ONNNNNNNNNNN !!!
This actually feels like a worthwhile remake — it’s a good enough concept to stands on it’s own two feet. and it’s not such a popular title that they have to be slavish to the original series.
it wasn’t a bad idea to remake the A-Team, either. it was just a terrible, awful movie. but c’mon — Dreamworks is not Fox.
A Team was camp?
I just rebooted my breakfast.
Uh, no thank you. This will be the next “A-Team”. Why don’t you get Liam Neeson to star in the Lee Majors role?
I think Parkes will do a great job with this high concept idea that was super popular when it originally aired. I teach at a film school and I can guarantee you that my students (average age 19 years) have not even heard of it before. As long as the story seems real an authentic, they will love it, otherwise, they will hate it.
I am not the kind to kiss and tell
But this movie is going to suck
This movie no way in hell scores
close to a nine hey hey.
it will blow up like a volacano
and go crash to hell
and when it goes in the tank
its past its day hey hey
Cause I the unknown critic
who is going to bury this turd
with dirt doo doo doo doo doo doo
First tv show I ever recorded on VCR was an episode of the fall guy
Everyone has a sacred cow tv show they never want to see remade as a modern film and mine is The Fall Guy (well and Columbo). I adore this show, still watch it on DVD on a regular basis. I was too young for Sox Million Dollar Man so this was my Lee Majors show. It also has the greatest theme song in the history of television.
Oh, and Lillian Wolf, in think post-ers issues with the casting of someone like Chris Evans is not about Majors being a great actor but about his charisma, age in the role and rugged manliness. No young actors can match that. The Fall Guy role should be a worn-down-by-life character. Russell Crowe could play it. But noone should and certainly not anyone under 40
A phenomenally stupid idea. When it fails I hope it takes whatever execs redlighted this with it, straight into the dumper.
How about some new stories? There are plenty of writers that have original film ideas waiting for a brave studio executive to say yes. The problem is courage. No one’s got it. Studio execs, companies nationwide sitting on massive cash stockpiles, politicians afraid to rustle the feathers of fringe groups … it’s all about white men not being able to get past their fear, desperate to hold onto their own status quo.
Where are the men? They’re not in decision making roles, apparently.
