EXCLUSIVE: NBC has bought a half-hour comedy from actress-comedian Andrea Savage and director-producer Jay Roach. Savage will write and star in the multi-camera project, which is being produced by Universal Television, with Roach and Jennifer Perini executive producing through their Everyman Pictures. The untitled comedy centers on a woman who prides herself on her humor and edge and refuses to become typical after becoming a parent for the first time.
The project is semi-autobiographical as Savage too had her first child 2 years ago. Her first gig coming back was a co-starring role in Jay Roach’s 2010 feature comedy Dinner For Schmucks, where the two first worked together. Groundlings Theatre alumna Savage, repped by UTA and Mosaic, also co-starred in the movie Step Brothers. On TV, she starred and wrote for the Comedy Central series Dog Bites Man and HBO’s Funny Or Die Presents and was most recently seen guest starring in last week’s episode of ABC’s Modern Family. Roach, whose credits also include the Meet The Parents franchise and HBO’s Recount, is with CAA and Mosaic.

Called up all night. It’s on NBC.
Maybe. But am I the only one that loves the cast of Up All Night and likes the story lines, but somehow never laughs at the actual show? I feel like the area is ripe for tv, but somehow Up All Night is just off.
Looks like a winner to me!
It seems like NBC is buying EVERYTHING this season
I effin love her!! Dog Bites Man was the best show ever!! Go Tillie!
Dog Bites Man was okay at best.
Hooray for Funny and Talented Andrea!
Up All Night, much?
Just worked with her a month ago and she is hilarious!! Nice pick NBC.
Have written with her and she is one of the funniest and most original in town– am keeping fingers crossed we can finally have her on our TV screens. One of the few I’ve met who is as good in front of a camera as she is behind it.
Really excited to see this Up All Night reboot!
So, basically, “How I ruined my kid’s life by staying a child myself.” Or we could just do a reality show on the kids of comedians and bring this in on time and under budget.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer person. Congrats Andrea!!
Way to go Andrea! Nice to see such a lovely and talented person having success.
She starred in the original “wilfred” pilot. Much better than the shrew who now plays the role.
i did a pilot with he last year — she’s fantastic. Super funny, super talented.
NBC needs to find something to go with Up All Night and this might be it.
NBC is buying a lot of comedies and I’m wondering what’s even going to be greenlit for next season.
Yeah more Anglos getting TV deals!!! This is a Racist town!!!!!! Hire minority writers we deserve to be show runners too!
