NBC has renewed Love In The Wild for a second season, the first new broadcast series that launched this past summer to get a second spin. The move is somewhat surprising given that the adventure-dating series, a cross between Survivor and Bachelor Pad, averaged a lackluster 1.8/5 in adults 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers. But the ratings bar in the summer is pretty low. And I’ve heard that NBC brass liked the premise of the Endemol USA-produced show and felt that it could do better with a stronger cast. “The success of the relationships formed on the first season of this series is a testament to the unique format of this show,” NBC’s president of alternative Paul Telegdy said. “We look forward to an even more compelling season as the series will return with new format twists and a new set of contestants who will conquer the wild — or not — to find love.” Love In The Wild, which will head to a new tropical location for Season 2, features single men and women who take part in challenges and quests while also looking for a mate.

YES! I loved the show (and the cast…Sam and Mike we’re my favorites). But if it gets even better, rock and roll!
Good Move! This is the first dating show that has made sense to me. We were watching people genuinely fall for one another, and it became very apparent why some people are successfully able to “couple up” and others simply aren’t prepared/don’t really want to build solid partnerships. Loved the host, as well, I hope they keep him.
Wow – the bar is very low. Very very low.
Cost nothing to make and at least five people watch it a week. That’s the bar.
How does Paul Telegdy still have a job at NBC Universal? Is he kissing corporate butt somewhere on that Burbank lot that allows him to remain employed for the foreseebale future? First, he brings back this awful Fear Factor, and now this crap reality show and what’s next on his plate? As always…NBC…NOTHING BUT CRAP!!!
Jed, you are jealous, we get it. I am too. Paul has a privileged position, isn’t that Hollywood? As you know, networks are filled with bureaucracy just like DC…let’s get over it and realize Paul’s not the problem. Love in the Wild is actually a perfect show for the indulgent summer audience who stayed committed (I only know this because my wife and her friends watched it religiously…I know, but this was the only new summer show she watched). Many shows have launched in the summer, built a loyal following and subsequently ended up hit series…do I really need to list them? NBC is a corporation…I think they know what they are doing in terms of bottom line more than us average Angelenos living in our humble Brentwood homes. Good for NBC, Paul, Endemol and Love In The Wild.
Show wasn’t great (they could use a new host and more interesting challenges), but a couple of male contestants on that show made it worth watching. Steele DeWald and Miles Haefner kept me watching. Somebody should cast them in another reality show.
I miss the other guy from last year… Jenny is still funny though.plus the rooms are so gross colored this year!
Last year’s show had “real” people meeting and building relationships through hard core adventures. The contestants this year seem chosen to “mix it up”. The men are changing partners fast and many of the woman though attractive are immature and some quite nasty. I have been hoping that Summer and her handsome Marine and Ken and Janina will keep on wining as they strike me as great couples with potential for romance like Sam and Mike. Why is there no follow up Special to see what last year’s contestants are doing – Where Are They Now. I did follow Samantha’s blog….yes I am a romantic and would never watch a true ‘reality’ show with fake drama and squabbles which this one seems to be heading in that direction. Look at what made people watch the first season.
