FIREFLY AKA SERENITY 2
don’t follow.
My worst fear. I tried to watch Serenity* and after 22 minutes of clunky exposition that didn’t look like it had any intentions of stopping, my wife and I turned it off in disgust.
I’m worried about The Avengers, to say the least. This movie has SO many expectations and a HUGE investment behind it. Ultimately, it’s all down to quality. It will break $150 mil without falter, but it needs to do $250 to have a chance of recoup and to pump-prime the franchise…and this will only be possible if the film is GOOD.
Godspeed, Whedon and crew, godspeed.
*You had to watch the TV show to “get it,” I know, I know, I know…don’t care.
Weird. The Serenity I watched stared with a character breaking his sister out of a high-tech prison…
You should care because Firefly is one of the best TV Shows ever created and yea they had to use exposition to explain what was explained in a season. Don’t judge something without watching it all the way through. I know plenty of people who saw just the movie and loved it enough to go back and watch the show. You are simply missing out if you don’t give it another shot.
How can clunky exposition have any intentions of anything?
I thought Serenity was pretty good and I had never seen the show.
mr whedon alas getting the budget and attention he deserves. Proud to say I knew him when. (no i don’t actually know him, but been following his career since toy story/buffy).
Dayamn! I’m seeing it JUST for the Black Widow!
I am gonna watch just for the Black Widow, too!
i’m seeing it just for Chris Evans’ slacks!
I get this sense that a bunch of humans with guns escorting Loki will work fabulously.
Joss Whedon is one of the best writers in tv history.
Why would the studio release a promo pic of Scarlett Johansson farting?
HAHAHA! Dude, you just made my day
God bless you for everything you do and the mini-empire you’ve built, Nikki. But wasn’t there a time not all that long ago when you would proudly proclaim, “I don’t do geek.”
Now you’re posting screen caps of comic book movies???
yeah I thought the same. Nikki realized she needs the geeks too to build her mini-empire.
“clunky exposition” ie you had to pay attention. I for one am glad he’s entering the marvel film universe (this should have already happened with xmen 3 – which essentially stole his plot from astonishing xmen series he wrote but left out all his intelligence and heart, thanks fox/ratner)…I’ve enjoyed some of the marvel films thus far but they’ve all felt a bit generic. I hope they allow whedon to introduce some of his signature qualities (pathos, zippy dialogue, apocalyptic urgency depicted at a character level) and don’t water him down too much for the sake of blending in with the rest of the brand.
Of course I’m biased so no need to state the obvious! But pairing a comic book and genre auteur like whedon with this franchise seems pretty common sensical to me. Putting the diretor of monster on thor? Maybe that’s something you should be worried about truth o meter
Make it stop. No one wants to see this. No one cares. Just like Thor. Captain America. etc. etc. What happened to real stories?
No one wants to see this? I guarantee this will be next years highest grossing movie.
“No one wants to see this??? No one cares?” Get a clue. Thor and Captain America grossed over 500 million dollars worldwide. Yet, according to an ignoramus like you, “no one cares.”
Steve B – Its a big world and there is room for all sorts of movies to see if you don’t like fantasy, comics or sci-fi. Right now many of the movies in the multi-plexes are “real stories.” Go see Moneyball or Dolphin for example.
I’m afraid you’re wrong about nobody wanting to see Avengers though. 125,000 people go to Comic Con every year to find out about the latest “Super-Hero” movies. Marvel has been carefully building up to this film for five years, so they have a lot of fans who can’t wait to see it. Marvel also has a great track record for making engaging and entertaining movies using their characters. But if this kind of entertainment isn’t for you – don’t see it. I don’t like post-modern ballet, or country music so I don’t pay to see that either.
OMG I was totally an extra for that scene with Scarlett!
I’m betting money that this is going to suck.
Looks like crap.
