EXCLUSIVE: It’s a role that a lot of actresses wanted, but I’m told that Olivia Wilde will play 1970s supermodel Suzy Miller in Rush, the Ron Howard-directed Formula One drama about the rivalry between drivers Niki Lauda (Daniel Bruhl) and James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth). Cross Creek’s Brian Oliver is producing with Imagine’s Brian Gr
azer and Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Cross Creek funded the film with Exclusive Media Group.
Miller fell in love with and married Hunt, a handsome, womanizing driver, but the most interesting part of their relationship is how Miller soon fell in love with Hunt’s actor pal, Richard Burton. Hunt and Burton famously negotiated a “transfer” of assets, with Burton paying the $1 million divorce settlement that Hunt owed Miller. Burton and Miller were married shortly after.

I’m told that Howard hopes to recruit his A Beautiful Mind star Russell Crowe to play the small role of Burton in the Peter Morgan-scripted film. Wilde, who’ll next be seen starring in Butter, is repped by WME and Untitled along with UK-based Hamilton Hodell.

Thanks for the warning. Playing a supermodel will actually require more of a playing than modeling, so no.
Well there is no law saying someone has to watch. I for one will prove that to you.
Olivia Wilde is a mediocre actress. Why do they keep casting her in things? She only has one facial expression and little talent. She is very pretty but there are plenty of actresses who are pretty but who actually bring strong choices to the table. A little sick of seeing her in everything. I’d rather see Anne Hathaway or Jennifer Lawrence or Diane Kruger in this role.
Anne Hathaway. Are you serious.
If anything, Wilde should be a little more selective in her roles.
You summed it all up. She should have stuck with the House series and movies when she could. Instead looks like someone wants to convice the world is a movie actress. Great gig if you can get it? Good call.
Was she kicked of House or did someone else convince her she’s a ‘movie star’? Another corporate packaged pile for the public to swallow as some actress.
she’s un-applealing.
And the target audience is what for this film? 48-79 former womanizing alcholics with money vying for a piece of filet? Just asking.
What a bunch of naysayers! This sounds like a great adult-appeal drama for men (racecars) and women (love triangle)that is NOT a remake of something else,(hallelujah) with a strong director, producers, etc.I’m in. You guys stay home.
how many more movies are they going to cast her in as the lead? she can’t act and she doesn’t draw an audience, yet she still keeps landing these roles. i wonder who she knows …
I wish Olivia Wilde would go back to being a blonde (her natural hair colour). She was far better looking back in 2004 and 2005. In addition, she should play the protagonist’s love interest in more of her movies.
Oh God. Really Hollywood? Is this the only actress out there? Why they keep casting her in things? Woman has only one face expression. And zero acting talent. They should cats her and Taylor Lautner in some romantic comedy. Those two equal each other.
Agreed – the story of one rich, famous, powerful man who buys another rich, famous, powerful man’s super model trophy wife as his own…. mmhhmmm this might have been a successful romance drama in the 1950′s…
When it comes to finding an audience for this film, I have two words.
Top. Gear.
yeah but Top Gear is funny and awesome. This is a ROMANCE DRAMA, not a fanboy flick.
It doesn’t sound like the love triangle is a big part of the film. The Richard Burton is small.
Oh, please. Olivia is an exceptionally charismatic actress who has proven herself capable – especially in her role on House. I look forward to seeing her opposite Chris and Daniel.
You know, idk why but y’all are haters! Olivia’s beautiful and I’m pretty dang sure she’ll make an awesome Miller. The scenes with Chris Hemsworth and Olivia should be interesting.. If Crowe gets it then that’d be interesting as well, since they worked on The Next Three Days previously.
Wonderful casting!
people stop hating! she’s an incredible actress… they keep casting her in the “best” roles because she’s the “best” actress for the roles. soooo relax yourselves and be prepared for pure awesomenss!! olivia+Chris+Ron Howard= pure greatness! I’m excited *_*
I think Olivia will make a great supermodel, I also think she’s capable of acting. So why don’t all you haters just go home while we olivia fans will enjoy this movie. BTW I think she should’ve been cast as Lois Lane. Just Saying!
I totally agree with you jenny, she should have been cast as Lois Lane. She would have been perfect for the role in my opinion. Screw the haters.
She’s cute and all but she doesn’t bring anything to the table performance-wise. It seems like EVERYONE is over her but Hollywood is slow to catch on to this.
Just for the record. I am a woman AND a Formula 1 Racing Fan.
I don’t watch Top Gear.
I LOVE racing (Mark Webber is my favourite driver of the moment although he needs to work on his starts) and I love great films (Ron Howard makes excellent films).
Let’s be realistic and say Olivia has a bit part.
The focus here will be on what happened to Niki Lauda and the rivalry between him and Hunt.
Niki Lauda REMAINS an absolute inspiration to drivers and sports fans alike.
I can not wait.
Mediocre-poor acting, incredibly overrated aesthetically… I’ll never understand the appeal of this woman. Why she is chosen for roles over certain actresses is beyond me.
Disappointing news. I like my women to look like women, not challenge the manliness of my jaw line/physique. Also am not of a fan of her “acting”. In this case, yes I am a “hater”.
I’m amazed at some of the comments here. Must all films appeal to the fan boy crowd? Sometimes it seems so these days.
How radical it is that a director would even consider making a drama for grownups! Yet, recently, two grownup movies made it into the cineplexes at the same time and were at the top of the box office … The Debt and The Help. Maybe there’s a message for Hollywood … Maybe grownups are worth considering as potential audiences once in awhile at least. Surely, there’s room for variety?
I love the idea of Crowe as Burton, but having read a bit about his current filming schedule this year, I wonder if he has the time?
Me too!! XD love You Liv!!
Olivia should be done in Hollywood…after cowboys and aliens and change-up flopped and tron 2.0 underperformed…its like she is the female jude law minus the talent…..eff if i know…fail upward
A film for adults? There’s a novel idea.
A beautiful woman in a small but important adult role? There’s another good idea!
Olivia Wilde as that woman? An amazing idea! Haters beware she’ll blow your minds
Well in that case, Yes, you’re a stupid!
