LOS ANGELES, CA (October 11, 2011) – The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today that President and CEO of CBS Corporation Leslie Moonves will be honored with the 2012 Milestone Award. The award will be presented to Moonves at the 23rd Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, January 21st at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The Milestone Award is the Guild’s highest honor recognizing an individual who has made historic contributions to the entertainment industry. In the past, The Producers Guild has paid tribute to such luminaries as Clint Eastwood, Alfred Hitchcock, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Ron Howard & Brian Grazer, Walt Disney and last year’s 2011 recipient James Cameron, among others.

What a bunch of insecure suck ups this so called “Guild” is. Les Moonves is not a producer. He’s a network president who rules with an iron fist and has created shows that make patriarchal America proud. It’s whitest, straightest and most male network out there. He’s filled the board of directors at CBS with his own personal rolodex to rubber stamp his pay raises. Plus he gives his second wife jobs every chance he can where she behaves badly. Not to mention CBS Films which is an industry joke.
This Guild is really pathetic.
Really? There’s a dirth of genuine producers for which this award could go? Sigh.
HE GETS 57 MILLION FROM DEDSTONE. THE SHAREHOLDERS ARE STILL DOWN 23% FROM THE HIGH MADE A FEW MONTHS AGO. THAT SHOULD EARN HIM ATLEAST 60 MILLION NSXT YEAR. TO DEDSTONE HE’S A GENIUS. CAN ANYONE FIGURE THAT OUT. THE GENIUS DIED LAST FRIDAY. RIP MR. JOBS
Eastwood, Hitchcock, Katzenberg, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, Walt Disney, James Cameron and Les Moonves.
This is like an I.Q. test wherein the test taker must select which name does not belong in this group.
Obviously, the PGA has failed the test.
Why? He’s making money off the CBS bonuses whether CBS is number one or not and he’s making his wife famous whether the TV ratings are better or not.
Wow – I thought for just a moment that Moonves had taken away Tiger Woods final glory. There really should be a copyright on acronyms…
Are they serious? Are his producer buddies who are board members at CBS on the committee for this award? How depressing.
This is pretty indefensible.
This is a low point for the PGA. This man runs a network like a kingpin, puts all his cronies on the board of directors so he can have free rein. He makes shows that by and large exclude gay characters, people of color and women over 40. He does however see fit to his own wife.
He deserves this award because he gives work to people running the PGA? Are some of his buddies from the CBS board of directors on the PGA committee who made this decision? Or does the committee have members with shows on his network? Who is getting paid by Les Moonves who helped decide this? I’d love Nikki Finke to find out.
Yes. Three cheers for Les… the man who used the excuse of the ‘economic downturn’ to lay-off a HUGE chunk of his unionized workforce…. only to crow to the media that the company was enjoying record profits less than a year later. While Les (also known as “less”…for many reasons) is a poster boy for how hollywood works, he is also a poster-douche for the very thing people are now protesting in every US city… Explain to me how his hyper-inflated paycheck (and bonus’ in good times or bad) in ANY way translates in to more and better jobs for ANYone else? … or more/better TV for that matter?
Les is just another clueless rich doof who thinks he matters. Meanwhile he’s so universally reviled, I bet he has to sneak up on his dog in order to pet it.
PGA couldn’t give to Tim Bevan and Eric Felner at Working Title? They’ve made over a 100 movies. Taste and class.
Les Moonves should not accept this award. It’s an embarrassment.
“The Milestone Award is the Guild’s highest honor recognizing an individual who has made historic contributions to the entertainment industry.”
Les Moonves? Who are they kidding?
Does this mean Mark Gordon gets a pick up for one of his pilots at CBS?
This is shameful.
I think I’m gonna hurl. Really Moonves? What an absolute joke.
There are real producers who are deserving, rather than some disingenuous exec who’s grossly overpaid and not a producer.
I’m a member of the PGA union of suck ups. Who do I complain to? This is beyond pathetic.
This union is out of touch they probably don’t read this site.
