Deadline team member Anthony D’Alessandro files this report:
EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has learned that Melissa Sun, VP of Stan Rosenfield and Associates, will be moving into a new position at the
Sierra Club where she’ll be linking up the entertainment industry with the national environmental group. Her new role is the Sierra Club’s Senior Strategist for Entertainment Relations, based in Los Angeles. Sun is tasked with creating meaningful opportunities for celebrities to help Sierra Club protect clean air, water and open spaces. The group wants celebs to help pressure the Obama Administration to reject granting a permit for a 1,700-mile oil pipeline running from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico as well as push the Environmental Protection Agency to limit the standard on mercury emissions especially from coal plants. Sun was courted by the Sierra Club to launch its new entertainment branding and strategy initiative, according to Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune, who told Deadline: “Melissa caught our eye with her background, making her a person we could not do without. She understands how the entertainment industry operates and has a passion to find people who can help the Sierra Club in developing projects, campaigns and strategies.”
As Sun told Deadline, “I have always tried my best to follow a green lifestyle and I look at this great opportunity with Sierra Club as a way to give back to the environment. And if it doesn’t help reduce my personal carbon footprint, I don’t know what will.” Sun has worked with SRA since 2005 rising through the ranks from assistant to VP, handling such clients as Helen Mirren and Danny DeVito, after experience as a broadcast journalist at KNBC-TV and KSBW-TV in Northern California. SRA clients like DeVito have done Sierra Club PSAs, such as this anti-Global Warming campaign where the actor appeared with the cast of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

I’ve worked with Melissa for years and she’s always been a class act. I wish her the best!
Melissa is a focused, resourceful and talented professional. She’ll be a great asset to the Sierra Club — great hire!!
Better to buy oil from Saudi Arabia than Canada. They treat their women better.
How about, should we buy arsenic from Saudi or from Canada. Hey, Canada is closer, so it should be fresher and deadlier. Big-time fail, you pseudo-liberal. Keep trying to clim on the high moral ground while carrying a ton of senseless crap. You stink no matter how close you get to it.
Is the Seierra Clubs HQ in a nice office building with heat and A/C, or do they operate out of a tent? They won’t have any problems finding celebrities, they’ll jump on what ever will keep them on the A-List.
Even if the Sierra Club operates out of a tent, they’d be about 20,000 years ahead of a knuckle-dragging troglodyte such as yourself. And speaking of A-lists: how far down on the dentist list are you and your family bunch of toothless inbreds? I hear there are working on a prequel of “Deliverance.” Here’s your life-time opportunity to crawl out of you rock.
Will they hire celebs like Sting who lecture us about reducing our “footprint” yet he owns 7 homes all over 6,000 sq ft. What a joke! And ill they enroll Algore, the man who holds Occidental Petroleum stock form his father, and who sits on the board of Apple. He of massive homes too.
When someone can tell me how a glacier that covered North America melted 10,000 years ago, is when I will believe in man made global warming. The biggest cult ever, for leftists who needed a religion.
^^^ Wow, you are an incredibly unintelligent person. There is scientific proof that global warming has been accelerated by human activity. It’s not a debate anymore. A dumb thing to say my friend…
