Syfy has picked up Total Blackout, a half-hour comedic game show from FremantleMedia North America that places contestants in complete darkness to compete in challenges. The series will start production October 18 for a 2012 premiere. Jaleel White (Family Matters) will host. The format has already launched internationally in a dozen countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, and Sweden. Total Blackout was created by Henrik Nielsen (Can You Duet?), who executive produces with Jeff Apploff.

I agree with the others. What happened to all the sci fi shows? However I do think I’d love to be on the Total Black Out show. Talk about easy money. God its always something not harmful. But where are the scifi shows. They should pick up Terra Nova. I can’t believe the other station cancelled it. It was an awesome show I think it belongs on sci fi though not fox.

Yes, it sure has launched in Sweden. 14 years ago it did, and was so lousy that it got cancelled after a few episodes… and this on state-owned television, which is not very concerned with ratings and never usually cancells shows mid-season. Good luck, Urkel.

A game show on SyFy? It isn’t bad enough that we have to put up with WWE wrestling (lots of fiction, no science). Now a game show (no fiction, no science). You’re quickly becoming irrelevant, SyFy! Stop trying to be everything to everyone. Might as well put wrestling on Lifetime or WE to get a bigger demo.

Before you know it we will be watching Moon mine wars or desperate alien’s housewives… What the hell and not only do they stop shows like Atlantis and Stargate they auction off everything so that theirs no way to restart it easily.. I realize stargate was headed in a bad direction with the whole Oreo or Ori Crap but come on Wrestling on SciFi Really??? Rather watch the new stupid Geico squealing pig commercials..
It all comes down too money! It is cheaper for a network to pay for a game show rather than a full blown television series. So say goodbye to all of those beloved programs!
I used to look forward to SciFi Friday. Now it’s a joke. Wrestling? Really? And now this? Used to be my favorite channel, now I hardly ever watch it. I’ll be over at AMC, see everyone there!

I watched Total Blackout last night and laughed until I cried. It was so funny. I can’t understand why people don’t want to laugh at something just because it was chosen by Sci-Fi. Lighten up people. Laughter is the best medecine.
