The beat has stopped at TNT. The cable network has opted not to renew the off-beat cop drama Memphis Beat starring Jason Lee for a third season. “TNT has decided not to pick up a third season of Memphis Beat,” the network said through a spokesperson. “The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.” This was the last TNT series whose fate had been undecided. The network has now renewed Leverage, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies and Franklin & Bash and canceled Men of a Certain Age, Hawthorne and Memphis Beat. BTW, earlier this week, Memphis Beat creators creators Liz Garcia and Joshua Harto sold a new project to NBC.

TNT are idiots. Keep Franklin and Bash… Great move… Much success to you in the land of mediocrity. You canceled a great show.
Congrats to NBC for their new show. On to greener pastures Josh and Liz!
I cannot believe that TNT would cancel such an excellent show. Every time I get into a good show the networks cancels the show. I know put more of that trash, real tv, on instead. I will throw my TV in the waste bin.
I can’t agree more. It’s not even worth getting interested in a new series. You get hooked and they cancel the show. Memphis Beat was terrific. I loved the characters and story line. I really hate to see this show go. What will they replace it with? Another mundane reality show? Soon that’s all that will be on. I’m glad I have a library of good books.
Cancelling this wonderful, down to earth show was a drastic mistake for the TNT network. I can see why they cancelled the other two shows, but not one that so aptly portrays people we can relate too in this word filled with such horrible events. We love this show and hope that the show’s writers got NBC to take it up and reap the benefits of watching their ratings grow.
I agree. I was looking forward for the new Season. Every time something good comes on and doing well, it’s taken away.
What I don’t like is when there is no warning that they are going to cancel a show. Some shows do, like THE CLOSER, this is their last season. Alot of the shows are left at a cliff hanger and you never find out what happens.

I agree TNT get your heads out of your ass. Leave some good shows on and take away the crap. Love Rizzole and Isles, Franklin and Bash but come on leave of Memphis Beat.
I completely agree. I thought TNT was almost on the cutting edge of greatness and then they go and do this. I think I will watch less TNT and do more reading. At least they can’t cancel that!!
What?!?!?!?!?! Memphis beat is a great show! Made me want to drive to Memphis! What’s wrong with you people at TNT! Best actors and great storylines.
i agree. i kept waiting for show to start and its cancelled. crap
all my friends watch memphis beat. you are cancelling a great show. shame on tnt.
I agree TNT and other networks don’t seem to know when they have a good show, Memphis Beat and HawthoRNe are good examples. I get into a show and they in up cancelling the DAMN thing. They were down to earth shows. THANKS FOR NOTHING TNT. I was looking forward to the new season.
Winnie
I agree with you. I loved that show. JASON lee was a great actor. I loved the singing thing at the end. Everytime I get hooked on a show, they cancell it, especially TNT. I agree with Brenda that all the stations keep putting too many reality shows on. They make me sick.
i loved this show, i just made the comment that the 3 major networks just have garbage, on and coming on, and that u can count on TNT has good stuff for summer, well shame on me for being so uninformed, ABC, after, cancelling Pan Am and no more DH, is not going to be watched, by me, CBS, canceling CSI Miami, and NBC Harry’s Law, HBO, showtime & cmax, and a pile of books will be my summer plans.
Not sure who made the decision to cut back on the singing and music featured in the first year but it did water down the show and change it from the way it was which was a wonderful depiction of the areas around Memphis to New Orleans (had the people involved in the decision to cancel ever lived or traveled in that area?..to something that could happen in any larger city-another cop show..albeit with some really good acting. I guess I will never understand it-for instance another dumb thing is for the 3 major networks, USA and TNT to all schedule their best shows for the same 1 hour slot on a Monday or Tuesday. Why? Is it a pee-pee on shoes kind of thing???
Every time a new good show that my whole family can watch that is worth watching it gets cancelled. They keep the inane crap that is written and shot in a cesspool and expect us to let our kids watch it.
Ugh ugh! These cancellations are disgusting right now.
Can’t even get into a show anymore without worrying about it being canceled. That just plain sucks!
I guess I won’t be wasting my time watching Dallas then because they’ll probably cut that one too.
I realize that a lot of talent comes together to get a show on the air. With that in mind, it is amazing that TNT has cancelled some well crafted shows that do not follow the prime time by the numbers soap opera network approach that can only be despised. The shows actually have credible actors in the lead roles not heart throb I am lucky to be on television actors cause I will not be appearing on stage or film anytime soon. They are not bad people or actors but they are supporting actors not leads and the roles they are playing are as unrealistic as the major networks newly cancelled, “Charlie’s Angels” and “Playboy Club”. The fact they renewed the mediocre , uninspiring, by the numbers and always juvenile Franklin & Bash speaks volumes that certain production executives in high places at TNT are settling for the four major networks mediocre throwaways instead of creating inspiring television programming.
This is so sad to hear, Memphis Beat was such good entertainment, hope someone picks it up!!!
I can’t believe they cancelled Mephis Beat. I loved the show. Are they kidding about renewing Falling Skies & Franklin & Bash. Of course they kept the shows that were horrible. I hope another network picks up Mephis Beat.
falling skies and franklina nd whatever are terrible. my family never watches them. who makes the decision to cancel a good show like memphis beat. they are nuts.
Everytime a new show is shown and I like it-it gets cancelled-like Memphis Beat. A WONDERFUL show, GREAT actors. The show had it ALL. I am sick of this. It’s getting to the point where all you see are disgusting and stupid reality shows. What is TNT THINKING? Or are they NOT THINKING? RING BK MEMPHIS BEAT-!!!!!!!!
Mephis Beat is a awesome show. You buttheads really don’t know how to pick the right and wrong shows to keep and take off. One show you should of taken off is The Closer.
What they renewed the crapfest Falling Skies ? Pathetic that people watch this.
This show was a good effort by everyone to get on the air, but it lost steam season 2. The NBC thing sounds very cool though, i hope these Creators get another one on the air for a long time!
At the end of the day they were never going to cancel Franklin & Bash if it’s numbers were better than Memphis Beat and they were in the demo. Even though it’s cable, it’s still ad-supported cable. Yes they have subscriptions, but there’s a reason people worry about “Southland.” Creatively the show is brilliant, but the numbers leave a lot to be desired.
Also I take umbrage with the thought that it’s too soon to cancel something after 22-24 episodes. That’s a pretty significant run for any show.
TNT you suck keep a Shi**ty show like franklin and bash
and cancel a good show like memphis beart
Why was Memphis Beat cancelled??!! I loved the show. Jason Lee’s best ever! The people in charge in Hollywood are totally out of touch with the viewers!!There are fewer & fewer programs on any of the channels that I like. And most of the ones I like now are on local networks. Thanks for helping me to make easier choices on which networks I view!!
Falling skies ended when he walked on to the space ship – why would the aliens keep him alive??? Memphis Beat was clever and had room to grow. Maybe it could go USA???
And once again, intelligent, older-than-the-demo viewers get the shaft.
Memphis Beat was an excellent show. You are making a horrible mistake cancelling the show.
It’s why they call it “show business.” There are many shows who have been cancelled which were excellent shows, and a lot of poor, crappy shows which have been renewed through the years. TV shows might be made to view for the audience members, but more than that, they are made to make money. Advertising space, in the form of commercials, is sold on that show in order to make money, and advertisers want to make sure their ads are seen by a wide audience. That’s why shows at the top of the charts get more money for their commercial space than those at the bottom.
If you’re a sponsor of a show, you want to make sure you get the best time slots to sell commercials, and being on the last rung of the chart isn’t going to see your products to anyone.
So whether we want to admit it or not, TV isn’t made by philanthropists, it’s made by businesses. I learned about this a long time ago, unfortunately, because I was so upset by all my favorite shows getting cancelled, too. The easier way to look at it, is to take comfort that we are more intelligent than a bunch of “yesmen” working at TV studios and channels everywhere.
So, TNT cancels Men of a Certain Age and Memphis Beat but keeps Franklin and Bash. That does not bode well for Southland after this season as it has never been a ratings blockbuster but is a quality program.
For awhile, TNT was producing must-see TV but they are now looking like another network programmed by some Jeff Zucker wannabe.
How anyone on earth could enjoy the mess that is falling skies is beyond me. I tuned in expecting sci-fi greatness, and only my love of sci-fi kept me watching for two episodes. The acting is risible, the plot is garbage, it’s a dumpster fire. I can’t imagine anyone enjoys that program, and I certainly would not want to meet the man/woman who does.
I can’t believe that Memphis Beat has been cancelled. That is a great show. Your making a mistake with this one. I hope another network picks it up!
I can’t believe that Memphis Beat was cancelled either. It was a great show. I was so looking forward to the next season. There are some of the worst shows on t.v. that I don’t even want to watch. Mainly those horrible reality (really, are you kidding me)
shows. I wouldn’t waste my time. Ok, some of you networks that know a good show when they see it—–pick up Memphis Beat.
I cannot believe that Memphis Beat was cancelled. I never missed this show and was looking forward to the next season. All of the characters meshed in a good way. I hate getting hooked on a good show like Memphis Beat and then they take it away. I wish there was some way you could see in the future so that you would not get hooked on a series that would only have one or 2 seasons.
@hyphenate, I agree with you about the business of television – and that’s why websites like Hulu, channels like Showtime and HBO, and web-originated TV programs exist – to cater to the more intelligent viewer, rather than the typical “sheeple” who watch regular network and ad-supported cable TV.
please bring back memphis beat hope another network picks it up
Really bad call great show I wonder is the car for sale?
TNT CANCEL Memphis Beat
I LOVED THIS SHOW ! Then cancel Hawthorne and Men of a Certain Age, YOU’RE CANCELING SHOWS THAT MIDDLE AGE PEOPLE AND OLDER ENJOY SHAME ON YOU.
DO NOT CANCEL MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE!!!!!!!!!!! What is the matter with you people??????????? Men of a Certain Age and Memphis Beat are the two of the best shows on TV. Get REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it WAS a great show. taught real values!! but you keep trash! go figgure!
It’s a real shame that Memphis Beat has been cancelled. That was a great show and I enjoyed watching it. Maybe another network will have the good sense to pick it up.
I just can’t believe it!! I was so looking forward to watching it this season! I agree with what everyone else says- This really sucks! Maybe if enough people complain about it,this will stop happening. You guys put good shows on, then you cancel them- it’s getting so we don’t want to start watching a new show cause you’ll just get rid of them. Maybe you ought to get rid of the people responsible for the bad taste they show by keeping all that crap on!!
PLEASE RECONSIDER!!!
frist they cancel free tv then any show that is good like memphis beat and the soaps. so much for something people relax and enjoy
