Michael Arndt, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter on Toy Story 3, has come aboard Disney’s feature version of Phineas and Ferb, Deadline confirmed Friday. Arndt, who also was among scribes on Rock of Ages and an Oscar winner for Little Miss Sunshine, is doing a polish on the script by the Disney Channel series creators Jeff “Swampy” Marsh and Dan Povenmire. Addition of Arndt to the mix illustrates the importance to Disney of transferring the whimsical stepbrothers’ adventures to the big screen. The plotline for the Phineas and Ferb movie hasn’t been revealed, but the LA Times reported that unlike the TV show it will be a mix of live-action and animation. It’s scheduled to hit theaters July 26, 2013, accompanied by scads of licensed marketing tie-ins.

My friends and I absolutely *love* the show, and can hardly wait to see its transition to the big screen!
The plotline hasn’t been revealed? Let me take a crack.
Phineas and Ferb wonder what they’re going to do. Ferb says “Where’s Perry?.” The boys decide to build something huge and impossible. Candace thinks she’s going to bust them which gets in the way of her date with Jeremy. Perry disrupts Doofenschmertz’s half baked plan. Mom comes home one millisecond too late to catch P&F in the act of whatever they built and Candace looks like an idiot again
Don’t get me wrong, I love the show, but why mess with the formula?
You forgot the most important difference: It’s on a bigger screen.
Michael Arndt is quite the talented writer. I’d bet my house (and britches, too!) he will pull off ‘Phineas and Ferb” without a hitch.
Come on, guys, Michael Arndt is an Oscar-WINNING screenwriter for “Little Miss Sunshine.” True, he was nominated as well for “Toy Story 3″ but you leave out any mention of his win? If the byline credits the whole staff, you should all take the blame on this.
And this is coming from someone who neither knows Michael Arndt nor has any invested interest in this specific case beyond the desire for writers to receive a bit more recognition.
I already commented on this post as the author saying that I made a mistake, totally overlooked the mention at first, and I wish it would be deleted. Funnily enough, THAT comment was deleted but my first comment wasn’t… Sorry I screwed up, why don’t you just delete it like you did my apology?
Uh,you should read the story again. It clearly states he was a winner for LMS.
So maybe you should check YOUR facts Gei.
Yeah, because one can’t really appreciate PandF when it’s only in 7 minute servings…we really need an hour and a half of it…it’s painful to even imagine a feature film…
This guy is an abject hack. Little Miss Sunshine was a load of shit, terribly written shit at that.
This guy is an EXCELLENT screenwriter.
