Uma Thurman has discharged CAA as her agency. No specific reason was given. I’d heard that she would be in Los Angeles next week working in some agency meetings, but am told this was a business trip long in the planning stage, and that choosing another agency isn’t on the itinerary. No meetings are lined up at present. Thurman continues to be managed by Jason Weinberg at Untitled Entertainment. Thurman recently wrapped a role in the Oliver Stone-directed Savages.

she should have been nominated for an oscar for kill bill
Uma’s career has certainly gone downhill since working with Tarantino. Too bad, always liked her.
Geeze, look at Jason Weinberg’s list – he reps all these actresses of yesteryear. Ok, maybe a few good ones still working, but many of the difficult ones.
Of course, he just got fired by Hilary Swank.
Weinberg loses Swank and so he pulls Uma fromm CAA? Writing is on the wall Jason, party is slowly coming to an end.
I’m not sure that Weinberg is responsible for this as Uma is not one to be “handled” in such a way. But I do believe that this is fall out for the whole Swank mess. CAA was completely responsible for what happened with Swank and she, as well as them, used Weinberg as the scapegoat.
When you combine that with the fact that Uma is a big time supporter of human rights, i’m guessing the whole fiasco just sickened her to her very core.
Just a hunch.
bingo. Uma rules.
It’s the age old adage in Tinseltown; the older a woman gets, the less she’s going to work.
Box office films don’t demand women of her age, so the cash cow is gone. Men on the other hand, are peaking when they’re 40.
It’s a shame, because she is extremely talented, and as one of the posters mentioned, deserved at least an Oscar nom for her work in Kill Bill.
Best of luck, Uma.
It isn’t the over forty thing for Uma. Wiki lists her last films as Percy Jackson, Ceremony, and the yet to be seen Bel Ami. Where’s the heat? Vera Farmiga, Julianne Moore, Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, and Glenn Close continue to improve with age.
Thank you.
And yeah, I love Uma (who doesn’t) but damn the girl has done some crap lately. She is a singular talent and needs the right role to really shine. The right director too, I’d say.
So obvious this happens right after swank fires him
Someone Representing Uma and Hillary has been Asleep ..these women are World Class Actress’ and have faded from view..No One was
Aggressive on their behalf..Jason could not even
come up with a Name for his Company
It’s okay, we still have tv sh*tcom hacktress Jen Aniston and her sperm movies. CAA gets like 40% of her 90s tv resids, so they’ll gladly cut loose an Oscar winner for that bottled water and Walmart perfume income of Aniston’s. Did you see the expense they put into that charity case lifetime tv movie on breast cancer, what was that? 3 months of nonstop press and glam pictorials and hype on every tv talk show. You would have thought it was an Oscar campaign. Kudos to uma for walking from that lying fake cheap schill factory.
Ouch!
she was one of the few clients their commercial department did stuff for, big loss for them.
Sorry Mack, it seems women start really raking it at the “age” when they realize its time to do a series. Dont cry for Uma, she will be rolling in cash in no time.
You people and your crippling belief systems – the pink elephant.
Those are some wonderful cliches of wisdom Mack. I’m sure Uma doesn’t give a shit what you have to say.
Talented & underrated. It’s hard for older actresses, but my understanding is that she slowed down because she wanted to be a hands-on mother. She’ll be back at some point (paging Mr Tarantino…)
Who are the best managers? All we read about are the bad ones.
This. I can’t believe that such an iconic role was overlooked. I can’t even tell you who was nominated those years let alone who won, but her “Bride” character will be remembered forever.
She’ll hire Michelle Bohan and be on a WME package in no time.
I have always found Weinberg to be truly one of the worst. Lazy, selfish, and never has his client’s best interests at heart. At the end of the day, Swank is to blame for attending a dictator’s birthday bash. When the other people on the guest list are Jean Claude Van Damme and Seal – it warrants a google search. But Weinberg REALLY should have prevented this. The agent’s job is to get work (a great agent does so much more) but at the basic level the agent gets the job and the manager structures the career. Uma has been laying to waste at CAA and Weinberg has done nothing because his deal with the agency involves him doing little to no work and managing hair appointments for the bevy of female stars. And collecting his 10 percent who he shares with no one at Untitled.
And I’ll be honest – yes, way back in the day Weinberg did screw me over. But so did Aleen and I still like and respect her because she gets the job done and works hard. Soooo there.
Who are the best managers? Maybe the guy who signed swank at 16, repped her for ten years, and got fired right after Boys Don’t Cry sold at Sundance.
Who WAS her manager for ten years before BDC sold at Sundance??
Amen to that.
uma needs to fire Jason Weinberg . He is to blame
What about Jeff Speich?
Wow, i don’t think Uma is the anti-christ but as a non fanatic and someone who doesn’t put millionaire Hollywood actors on a pedestal, I’m bewildered by the fawning over an actress who can ONLY act well when directed by Tarantino and who has been given chance, after chance, after chance but she does NOT bring in any money on the box office nor does have the acting gravitas of Meryl Streep or Tilda Swinton to be headhunter for Oscar calibre movies.
And for the person who came out with the lame comment about age…please, are you kidding me? I feel like Streep or Julianne Moore or Annette Bening or (fill in the gap) have never stopped being on screens!
And to the other deluded person smoking special cigarettes. No, I don’t think Uma was busy being mother earth when she was galavanting all over London with her fiancé financier who ripped off a load of people after the recession or even before that when she busy punching that hotelier ex boyfriend of hers who is now with Chelsey Handler.
SHE is to blame for her own career, no one else.
But WME will be better for her as they don’t deal with talented people and do their job of getting you want you want. See Justin Timberlakes career with limited to no acting talent.
She must have attended a birthday party
