Guy Stodel, who ran Paramount Vantage until falling victim to a round of layoffs back in June 2009, has been tapped as president of production at Vendome Pictures, the producer behind Summit’s Source Code and Universal’s Larry Crowne. Stodel, who became an indie producer after leaving Paramount, will be charged with overseeing development of and ramping up Vendome’s slate; the ultimate goal is to produce 2-3 films per year. He will report to Vendome president and CEO Philippe Rousselet and co-CEO Fabrice Gianfermi. “I’m excited to work with Philippe and Fabrice at Vendome,” said Stodel, whose credits as a producer include the English-language remake of the French comedy Le Mac starring Ed Helms. “I’ve admired their passion, good taste, and commercial instincts for some time now and look forward to putting Vendome’s existing projects and new ones into production.”
At Par Vantage, Stodel created the production slate and led acquisitions at the specialty unit. Among the films is the upcoming Man On A Ledge, which is being released by Summit. Before that, he was an SVP at New Line Cinema, where he helped acquire films including The Upside Of Anger, Laws Of Attraction and Oscar winner The Sea Inside. He also had a stint at Lionsgate.

Great get for Vendome. Stodel’s got great taste and knows how to work the genre angle. Didn’t know what happened to him after Vantage shuttered, but happy to see he landed somewhere that can make use of his talents and relationships.
Wow! 1st a liquor store in Toluca Lake, and now movies! Way to go!
“I’m excited to work with Philippe and Fabrice at Vendome,”
When you’ve been laid for a couple years you should be excited to work ANYWHERE!!!!
congratulations, guy stodel is great!
Guy Stodel is a big get. He’s a real deal producer with impeccable taste, commercial ideas and long standing relationships who’s been busy selling Film and TV projects since leaving Paramount. Congratulations to Guy and Vendome. Good match.
MAN ON A LEDGE is incredibly bad. Almost bad-funny, but too pretentious to be funny, so…
LE MAC starring Ed Helms? Ur, Pass.
