I don’t know what to think about this: actor/writer/comedian JB Smoove (Leon from Curb Your Enthusiasm and Trucky in Pootie Tang) shows up at his Hollywood agency on Yom Kippur to find it empty. “So he decides to RUN shit…”

Props to the writer/director. Thought he did a very nice job–I say this even though a few of the jokes went over my head here and there.
No props.
I concur! Hilarious. It always feels like a present when I see J.B. Smoove. I had to watch a couple of times because he talks so fast, but it only got funnier, and it was pretty great direction and editing!
I now know who he is and could careless. Too long, crappy sound, and not funny….if his agent approved this he should be fired.
Because the writer director isn’t camped out here waiting to post about himself?
GIVE CREDIT.
I can’t understand anything he’s saying.
1) Trying way too hard.
2) Just screaming about white people/black people stopped being funny in 1988.
3) Trying way too hard.
Regarding point #2: I don’t think Chris Rock got that memo.
Indrid, If that’s what you think Chris Rock’s comedy is about, then you’ve never actually listened to it. Yeah, Rock talks about race, but his comedy is way smarter than just “shouting about black/white people.”
This is hilarious! I have to agree that I don’t understand half of it, but it doesn’t matter. I still found myself laughing. Well played.
Better him then Ari and Patrick.
They had some good access to JB and the WME offices… It’s a shame they didn’t pay more attention to the sound. It was funny to see JB doing his thing, but it went on a bit long. Would have liked to see him doing something more. It felt like there was no payoff for a 7 minute video.
Terrific writing/directing. Never knew who JB was before. Pretty funny guy.
Another post by Geoff. Who ever points out the writing/directing of a Funny or Die type movie? No, I’ve never heard of JB Smoove, but I’m plugged in enough to comment on Deadline — to offer writing/directing credit on a poorly made, endless video clip no less, but I don’t know who JB smoove is.
If you want to be a director, try not to throw your one actor under the bus on your first try.
genius.
This hilarious. Love JB!
hilarious! and i think it’s kind of cool that wme has the balls and sense of humor to poke fun at itself.
DITTO. LOL.
Love the Charles King reference. Jerry is too damn funny. Ari was smart to sign him off Larry’s suggestion.
Sound quality was terrible. Ambient noise, camera noise, and JB was barely comprehensible in places.
LOVED IT..esp love the bit about nepotism..just great fun. Agree sound isn’t fantastic but I heard all of it except for the very end it got a little muffled..kudos to Geoff the ‘low -level’ WME client!
sooo who exactly is Rich Cook’s dad?
Not as funny as Pinkberry, but pretty well done nonetheless.
he’s just not funny
Clever! I definitely just laughed out loud.
Blatantly racist. It portrays black people as loud mouth and non-nonsensical violent-types. This is not how black people act, it’s how the media portrays black people to act. Shame on JB for applying the media black face just for a couple cheap jokes.
no. it portrays one guy as “loud mouth and non-nonsensical.”
This is how JB *acts*. Not my cup of tea; his character [sic] invariably conforms to stereotypes that white people find palatable but that’s his shtick. He’s “the black guy” because that’s what pays the bills. It is crude, not that anyone in Hollywood needs any help perpetuating negative stereotypes about people of color, but the film was just WME congratulating themselves on their own cleverness.
That said, calling out CK for the window dressing that he is was more sad than funny.
“Never fuck with an angry super Jew” HILARIOUS!
coke dispenser in the kitchen. wtf
funny
JB’s great. But it’s fucking gross, this brand of pseudo-racial satire where the black comic actually reasserts the age-old power structure with which he feigns disinterest and pretends to lampoon. Just a WME circle-jerk disguised as a comedy bit.
Then again, maybe it’s just a company in-joke that leaked online, which would actually make more sense than if it was meant to go viral.
This could have been 200% funnier if they only invested in a lav mic.
JB Smoove is an aquired taste. I enjoyed him in small doses on Curb, but a 7 minute monologue is like watching Pootie Tang, i.e. difficult.
What?
Cut.
E-None-C-ate.
oh, and cut some more.
