EXCLUSIVE: WME has just signed Tom Hiddleston, who reprises his Loki character from Thor in the upcoming Joss Whedon-directed The Avengers. Hiddleston, who was last repped in the U.S. by ICM, had a year in which he also starred in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, as well as Steven Spielberg’s upcoming War Horse. All the agencies were after him. In The Avengers, Hiddleston’s Loki takes on Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). Hiddleston continues to be repped by UK agents Mikey Symons and Christian Hodell, and manager Jon Rubenstein.

shocking that he’d leave ICM
Great talent! One of the most interesting young actors working right now. Good luck to him!
Tom is the best actor of his generation. I’ve known him since 2003 when he was fresh out of drama school and it was plain as day even then that he was put on the earth to do this job. He is the hardest working actor I know and one of the most instinctive. He is exemplary across all media, film, television and stage. No I am not a member of his team trolling. Just a proud advocate. WME is a great fit. I hope they further his ascent. Tom is a natural born star.
LOL wow.
BC… Is this someone posting that quote from somewhere, or..?
I’d never seen him till the Avengers, but I agree with every single word you said. I can only hope and pray to work with him as a fellow actor one day
He’s a cold, insipid, wishy washy actor. Very over rated.
he is getting pretty overrated
I mean some quiet scenes are quite good but he usually lacks gravitas
I love Tom. Delivered a script to him once, and we ended up talking for like 45 minutes. Such a nice guy and totally deserves his success.
Is this how actors treat their agents? it seems to me that his agency has him working with the best directors in Hollywood (Spielberg, Whedon, Woody Allen, Branagh). What could this guy be missing? Sounds more like the character of this actor than the business, but what do i know?
Really? ICM in two years has him working with Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg and in a massive Marvel franchise and that’s not enough? Did he want his own island, too? I’m pretty sure Joel Edgerton left ICM for WME and they put him in “The Thing”. Wonder how that’s turning out for him.
Funny that he uses his agent going over to UTA as an excuse to take meetings, and they couldn’t pull him in. Schachter must be apoplectic.
Gross.
ICM killed for this guy. He’s delusional. He used his relationship with his former UTA guy so he could take meetings with WME and CAA. Slimy. Ac
Such a shame, Tom was a huge priority for ICM and couldn’t have been better serviced as evident by his work with such filmmakers as Woody Allen and Steven Spielberg. He used Schachter leaving for UTA as an excuse to take meetings and they couldn’t even bring him in. I hope he is happy sitting at the bottom of the list over at WME.
ICM killed for this guy. He’s delusional. He used his relationship with his former UTA guy as an excuse so he could take meetings with WME and CAA. Not cool. He’ll be on the bottom of WME’s list. Good luck competing for jobs with Casey Affleck and Matthew Fox.
you are pathetic.
Really? Tom Hiddleston, really? So, what Pilot is he going test for next year??? WME won’t do shit for him.
Great sign for WME and a talented actor. Loved him in Midnight.
Seems to me that ICM was doing everything right, no? He obviously was working constantly, had a huge studio franchise and was working with the best in the biz A-list directors. What is missing that this mediocre looking dude thinks he is going to find elsewhere?
If I had to put money on it, he will go back. He just went from being a priority, to the bottom of the food chain — That won’t feel good in 6 months or so when he is sitting on his ass and auditioning for small supporting roles because WME pitched 45 other 30 something, bigger name males for the lead.
AND, If he did in fact use Scott Schachter leaving to company as an excuse to take meetings, then UTA should be embarrassed they could not bring him in. Seriously embarrassed.
wait…Chris Silbermann couldnt save this one either? seriously, if anyone knows British actors, it’s CS.
wme is definitely nipping at the heels of caa. bravo. how soon before the actors theyve signed start to realize that they are not getting serviced as well as they used to, their careers stall, and they end up signing at gersh, apa, or paradigm, and trying to get a tv series?
Wait, who is Tom Hiddleston and what is a WME?
About 180 million in the hole…. Lawsuit anyone? How are they signing when they can’t pay a soul a bonus….. Hmmm…
he is not good looking…he was terrible in Thor….give me Chris Hemsworth any day…all bad, insecure actors tend to leave their agents to find something better…which they never do…he should go to a new acting coach instead of a new agent!
he’s a loser in my book…who cares.
why is this news?
What a world you agents seem to live in. First, 2/3 of these posts contain IDENTICAL phrases and language. Talking points, anyone? And why would someone leave, even though they were getting good jobs? Well, maybe they’d negotiated lousy deals for him, for one. Do you know what he was getting paid, relative to others? Or maybe he just liked the coffee over there better. Or any of the thousand and one reasons any of you might make a change in your life, without feeling indebted to your clients enough to stay.
Oh, and guess what? He was already competing with all the names mentioned above. The directors who hired him are the ones who chose him, not his agency. And they chose him knowing all the other actors who were available, at all the different agencies.
Agents. The only population that feels even more entitled than actors.
Awwwww Matthew… Someone sounds like a hactor? Do you need to find a career? And none of this is agent speak… they are not that creative…otherwise they’d be writers…
Yeah, it doesn’t seem like he got a big enough pay raise between Thor and The Avengers.
Plus, from all I’ve heard he got his biggest break all by himself. Thor opened the gates of Hollywood to him and his agency had not a thing to do with it. Just hard work, good luck and impressing sir Ken over and over again.
And who’s to say who got him those Allen and Spielberg gigs? Sounds to me more like the work of tinseltown casting directors and not the agency.
There is just a chance that hard working though they were, all ICM were able to get him is more BBC costume dramas and not enough versatile film work.
I agree with Dave K- most of his big work had come through luck and tinsel for Tom.
Woody Allen had personally mailed him the offer for Midnight in Paris and Spielberg had given him the job right at their meeting- even his agents at the time were surprised. The Avengers came through Thor, and Thor came through Sir Branagh, whom he had worked with back home on stage and Wallander.
Basically ICM weren’t doing much for the guy. If he was their priority they should have handled him better. Who knows, perhaps Tom’s pal who left for UTA gave a few wise words to Tom about his situation with the team.
Plus he recently has said something along the lines of tired of doing period pieces, which I am a bit tired of seeing him in too.
Good luck to him and hope to see him in something contemporary soon. Hope WME do a better job for him.
