CBS has ordered three additional episodes from modestly rated A Gifted Man, bringing the medical/ghost drama’s freshman season to 16 episodes. It is not clear what CBS plans to put in the low-trafficked Friday 8 PM time slot after A Gifted Man ends its run. The network is yet to schedule midseason drama The 2-2, but, judging by how A Gifted Man and Chaos struggled there, CBS will probably think twice before slotting another newbie in the hour. A Gifted Man was the only new CBS series this fall that hadn’t heard about its fate via an episodic/script order or cancellation. It has been averaging a low 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 in the Friday 8 PM slot. But in total viewers, the series starring Patrick Wilson has been solid, most recently drawing 8.3 million viewers, more than double the audience of its nearest competitor in the hour. Of the other four freshman CBS series this fall, 2 Broke Girls, Person Of Interest and Unforgettable have been given full-season pickups, while How To Be A Gentleman was canceled.

A gifted man is wonderful I can tell by other comments that some do not understand all the subtle intracacies of the characters including the dead wife. Pls another season
I am so tired of all of the stupid shows on tv. I really don’t care about reality shows and some of the sitcoms are beyond stupid! I miss good adult story lines. I agree that this show deserves another chance. It really is good, good actors, good writing. Listen to your viewers! We are what matters!Without us you have nothing! That show was the only reason I watched tv on a Friday night.
We love gifted man and want it back for another year PLEASE, it is one of the few good shows that aren’t a reality show. Need more shows like this, look at Greys anatomy they were questionable at first.
Why the hell was this cancelled??!! This is just getting to the end of it’s first season here in the UK, however I managed to get a sneak peak at the last two episodes. The viewing figures seem to have been reasonable however Steady in the US, and the last episode of Season 1 Left some good questions unanswered. However it seems to have a rock steady following, and with it’s ability to hook people after 1 or two episodes the decision just doesnt make sense. The Chemistry between Rachelle Lefevre and Patrick Wilson, especially in those last episodes, was almost electrifying. Ok, maybe it needs some new ideas built in, or some plot twists, however those seemed to be appearing in the last few.
It’s just a shame that what was a rock steady performer seems to have been axed for other just that is currently coming from the CBS stable. Come on CBS execs – Season 1 is only just still airing over here – Why not bring back a show that still has a lot of legs, other than some of the shows out there that are now just flogging a dead horse!!
The last episode of a Gifted Man has just aired in UK. It was on a minor channel but I know loads of people who got into it and really enjoyed it. The last episode had humour, tradgedy, love and affection and like the whole series was wonderfully acted. Do hope the makers reconsider and bring it back … soon!
