The big LSU-Alabama game averaged 20.011 million viewers on Saturday night, making it CBS’ most-watched regular season college football game in 22 years. The game, which aired in primetime on the East Coast, pitted the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the national rankings and came down to an overtime field goal that gave top-ranked LSU a 9-6 victory on the road. The ratings — viewership spiked to 24.3 million during the tense final minutes, and the average fast-national rating/share was 11.5/20 — were particularly impressive considering that at its core this is a regional game, as LSU and Alabama are rivals in the Southeastern Conference.

Rematch!! ROLL TIDE!!
So we can see LSU win again by a score of 6-3? No thanks. The MLS playoff games were more exciting than the LSU-Bama game. I hope we get two different teams in BCS Championship.
A yawn-fest of two boring teams. No offense from either side, and the ‘experts’ told us these are the two best teams in the entire nation? Hardly.
There seems to be a lot of favoritism towards LSU – maybe it’s because of Katrina. But neither of these two teams will win the national championship.
Savvydude–you have absolutley NO idea what you are talking about. When unstoppable force meets immovable object it looks much like it did on Saturday night. Was the game pretty? No. By no means. But it was becuase the two best defenses in the nation were going nose to nose. Those teams are by far the best 2 in the country.
And the katrina comment was just foolish. You should apologize.
I can’t believe that guy brought up Katrina? First of all, ESPN hates LSU. We dont get enough credit as it is. Alot of people see the scores of games but fail to actually watch the games. If they did, they sure as hell wouldn’t be claiming LSU and Bama are not the 2 best teams in the nation. Put up against OSU, OU, Oregon, and yes, Boise St., LSU or Bama would easily prevail. I can respect peoples opinion on the game being a borefest, but to me that means they’re not true college football fans. I was at the game, and that is an event I will remember for the rest of my life. The atmosphere was unbelievable, and I think my mind would explode if there was a rematch. The ‘experts’ are experts for a reason, so maybe you should listen to them a little.
Way too overhyped and hell, I’m an SEC loyalist but please, no rematch.
Stanford vs LSU national championship game, but if there was a PLAYOFF Boise St. would be playing one of them and maybe the 1 loss Tide would have a shot….
