EXCLUSIVE: Here is some good news and some bad news for Cougar Town fans who were outraged by the fact that the third-year comedy is missing from ABC’s midseason schedule released this afternoon. First, the bad news. Because Cougar Town is not on that schedule, meaning that it won’t launch before March, its full-season 22-episode order has been reduced to 15 episodes. Now the (semi-)good news. Rumor is that the series starring Courteney Cox will return in March, taking over the Tuesday 8:30 PM slot after Work It finishes its run. It would be paired with the Tim Allen starrer Last Man Standing.

I really don’t understand all the Cougar Town hate. It, along with Community is one of the funniest shows on TV. It has a great cast with good chemistry. But I get it, people prefer the canned laughter that The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men has to offer. Sigh.
I agree with you about Cougar Town being one of the funniest shows but the other shows r not bad either…Now all we have to do is wait for the premiere of season 3.

canned laughter most likely has nothing to do with it. Modern Family has no canned laughter and is the highest rated comedy ABC has. So that argument of yours needs refinement. Perhaps people just don’t like Cougar Town but maybe this conclusion is just about the craziest thing you’ve ever heard so there’s no way it’s right
I agree. I love me some Cougar Town – all the haters clearly don’t know good television. It deserves more than 15 episodes, but I suppose it’s better than nothing. I love my cul-de-sac crew!

So sad… The Middle is just plain bad, and Cougar Town (bad name withstanding) is still a better show than anything they currently have on Tuesdays. Come on, Last Man Standing and Man Up are both horrible shows. ABC should be happy they have a solid show like Cougar Town to fill in the comedy holes in their lineup, not be cutting episode orders.
Completely agree with you about Last Man Standing. ABC/Disney must be desperate to keep Tim Allen in the fold. I really wanted to like this series because I enjoyed Home Improvement, but Last Man Standing is full of tired social, political, and male stereotypes that weren’t funny 20 years ago. Tim Allen can do so much better than this.

Yeah, I know.. Do you see how hilarious Work It looks. Their MEN but they are dressed as WOMEN in dresses and everything. And they have to eat salads at work because that’s all women at work eat, and they have to go shopping and dancing and be hit on by men but they are men see how funny that is…
and Work It is such a better name then Cougar Town and we all know the title tells us how good a show is.
And why isn’t this vitriol ever directed against the shitfest of shows that air on CBS? Two and a half men is one of the worst shows on television, 2 Broke girls is awful in every possible way, Mike and Molly deserves to have new terms invented for crass comedy, Rules of Engagement is a stinking pile of crap and How I Met Your Mother is just running on fumes now (though it’s still miles better than most of these shows)

I’m not one to defend TV in any sense, and haven’t seen most of the shows you mention, and take your word for it. But, 2 Broke Girls is the only show I make a point to watch. It references things I never hear on TV, and it has an effortless quality usually found on shows in later seasons.
Better shows like Man up? Or Work it? ABC only has a couple of good ideas. I don’t know why they are showing Work i it, it seems like they;ve already decided to cancel it.

loved Scrubs. moments of pure genius. Cougar Town? not so much. it’s quippy, sassy and “edgy”, it’s just not that funny. my wife likes it so i watch it with her. in return she watches Curb with me. anyway, count your blessings, count your money, take your ball and go home. but i look forward to more moments of genius on one of your new shows. thanks for the laughs! seriously.

Yes. It’s a horrible name but behind Community it’s the best 30 minutes on TV. People are afraid to watch it because of the name but they have no idea what it’s about. This is a bad week for Abed and I.

The show is a frantic unfunny mess. It is fun to pause frames on Cox and Miller to see the plastic surgery.
I was fond of Courtney Cox when she came out of no where in appearing on stage with “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen in 1 of his music videos. Go CC!
What I don’t get is the Cougar Town fans get all bent out of shape and upset and take their frustration out on other shows that people like like Last Man Standing and The Middle. Some of their rants inadvertently take shots at shows like Modern Family. I’m sorry for the Cougar Town fans and Cougar Town but why so mean spirited. ABC’s schedule is better to me now than it’s been years because it has more diverse shows than any other network. It has women dramas, multicam laugh track shows, single cam laugh track shows, recreation project shows, dance shows and reality shows. I don’t like all of those but at least it has something for everybody. Maybe Cougar Town’s demo just doesn’t attract everybody. Last Man Standing is a family sitcom so it has a wider demographic. Don’t think Cougar Town is a family show so I don’t think it would fit behind LMS. Who are Cougar Town’s audience anyways?

Except for Last Man Standing and Man Up though, they’re kind of unfunny. But since I keep hearing bad reviews for the show I thought everyone said thought that.
Thank the lord jesus almighty!!!! Cougar Town is the best damn comedy on TV—thank GOD we have a confirmed return date. Sad that it’s only 15 episodes, but hopefully the show will do well enough to get a fourth season pick-up.

I’m not sure what the big deal is with the name. I love watching Cougar Town. Especially loved it when paired with Modern Family. I do’t understand why everyone has to be so contrary. There are different types of shows on tv, because people have different tastes…so let it go!

I admit I am a fan of the show, but not a rabid one. I enjoy it and consider it a decent comedy. It amazed me when they put Mr. Sunshine in its slot, hurting its audience and making a lot of people assume it had been canceled.
Then fall rolls around and its still gone, so even more people think it has been canceled.
What’s the point of all this?
This poor show was hampered by an awful name, but it is some of the sharpest writing on TV. Hope it gets the recognition it deserves in March.

Cougar Town SUCKS! When it first came out, it was great, cause it had Courtney hitting on younger man-henceforth, the name. But a few eps in the dorks from Scrubs decided to make it Scrubs in Florida, and now its just like Scrubs, which Ive always hated! This show cant die soon enough- FUCK CT!
