Talk about an absolutely uncanny resemblance… Daniel Day-Lewis was spotted having lunch at a restaurant in Richmond, Virginia, where sharp-eyed local Michael Phillips snapped this picture. Day-Lewis is on location with Steven Spielberg for Lincoln, which also stars Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, John Hawkes, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, Tim Blake Nelson, David Strathairn, Jackie Earle Haley and David Oyelowo. Four years in the making, Spielberg’s biopic was long set to star Liam Neeson.

I didn’t know Honest Abe wore jeans.
Love the beard, DDL looks awesome!
Hahahahha, Deadline cropped the pic since last night so you can no longer tell he’s wearing jeans….but indeed he is.
Most anticipated film. Daniel Day Lewis is an acting deity. I wish this was a mini-series haha.
What a film this will be.
With malice toward none, I drink your milkshake.
Tremendous
Daniel Day-Lewis has turned into one of my most favourite actors. He’s spectacular in pretty much anything he’s done so far. Can’t wait to see this movie!
“Absolutely uncanny resemblance”??? Take another look at Lincoln. Ahab, maybe; DDL looks like Gregory Peck in Moby Dick, I’ll give you that.
Get ready for tons of historical inaccuracies and contrived, tortured analogies to today’s politics for this bio of the first Republican President from Hollywood’s most sniveling liberal.
“tortured analogies to today’s politics for this bio of the first Republican President.”
The irony is, it takes one of those “tortured analogies” for modern Republicans to claim Lincoln as one of their own. “Republican” meant something very different back then. The modern Republican party owes more to the Whigs, the Know-Nothings and the Southern Democrats of the era than anything Lincoln stood for or did.
But again, don’t let history, facts or reality get in the way of your talking points, Debbie.
Like Reagan, Lincoln would never get nominated by the modern-day GOP. Neither would Teddy Roosevelt or Eisenhower, if we really want to cover all the great Republican presidents. They would be considered too liberal (Reagan), too intelligent (Lincoln), too pro-environment (Roosevelt) or be accused of class warfare (Eisenhower).
Sorry for the tortured analogies.
Please go troll the Yahoo boards with your political drivel.
Daniel Day-Lewis is wonderful. Since he has very distinctive green eyes, I guess he will be wearing contacts. I hope they don’t make him look like he had sharke type dead eyes.
Probably one of, if not the greatest, actors of our generation. Amazing how he transforms into a role. Haven’t seen that since DeNiro at his peak.
Actually, he looks like the evolution of the characters in the next Planet of the Apes movie. Should Andy Serkis be concerned?
Really? Looks more like a still from “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”.
This man lunches in Virginia and I’m already putting him at the front of the Oscar race.
Looks like Abe Lincoln dressed as Steve Jobs.
If I snapped Nikki’s picture while she was eating lunch, I’m pretty sure she’d see me as an intrusive rube… not “sharp-eyed.”
Check this Phillips’ twitter feed… what a bunch of self-congratulatory bullshit. It’s a fucking actor, not Bigfoot.
But DDL does look awesome.
I understand while at the restaurant he freed the waiter.
Dear every actor hoping to win a best actor oscar the year this is released. Sorry, not happening.
Brilliant casting. Crossing my fingers that Spielberg delivers — I think he will.
Daniel Day Lewis should play Steve Jobs. Great actor and he would be amazing.
Daniel Day-Lewis is so versatile. His performance in There Will Be Blood is harrowing yet brilliant.
How can I phrase this and still not be deleted by the moderator?
I have concerns about the historical accuracy of this film, considering the director’s politics and the fact that Lincoln was a Republican.
