Writer-director Paul Weitz (About a Boy) adapted Nick Flynn’s memoir Another Bullshit Night In Suck City, about a young man (Paul Dano) whose longtime missing-in-action father (Robert De Niro) turns up at the homeless shelter where the son works. Focus Features plans a spring 2012 release.

They changed the title “Another Bullshit Night in Suck City” to “Being Flynn”? That’s really, really lame.
Because, clearly, “Another Bullshit Night in Suck City” is such a marketable title for a major production out of Fox. Maybe, you know, use some of those brain cells before making ridiculous comments?
CBS would have kept the title and added punctuation.
Title change lame and book now looks like a Hallmark movie. Way to go hollywood. Hot trailer? More like hot mess.
At least call it “Another Bullshit Night” or “Suck City.” That way you’re only cutting off one of it’s balls.
do you really believe the mpaa would allow that? umlikely.
The style seems inappropriate for the material. Way over produced. Still, it looks like DeNiro is playing a three dimensional character. I don’t know what it is about Paul Dano, he is technically a good actor, but there is nothing about him that I want to know or care about. Also, didn’t he just make this movie with Kevin Kline? haha
“Another Bullshit Night in Suck City” is a bullshit title. What does the word “bullshit” in the title tell you? Nothing that wasn’t conveyed by “suck,” except now you suspect the book is poorly written. “Another Bullshit Night in Boston” or “Another Night in Suck City” would have sufficed. For that realism vibe, “A Homeless Shelter in Boston” would have spoken volumes. To get some cursing in, just cursing would have been fine. “Fuck. This a Memoir about Meeting my Dad at the Homeless Shelter where I Work.” Now that’s a fucking title.
Well said…
Completely agree.
The solution is to leave the title alone.
Bad movies=necessity for attractive titles=confused, angry movie goers.
Movie of the week.
TAXI DRIVER 2: Bickle is a Dad!!!
Wow, are we all cynical or what?
It looks like some powerful acting. I rarely, if ever, have judged a movie by it’s title, so I could care less what it’s called.
Wait! Where’s Ben Stiller in this?
Or, Billy Crystal?
i saw it and it’s pretty great…dano and de niro do a great job…. it’s a serious and touchy subject matter…still would love the title to change back to another night in suck city
Robert De Niro is finally in a good movie again. So, so happy.
I’ve seen the movie. It is absolutely beautiful.
Best work Paul has done since About a Boy.
You can argue about the title all you want. All I know is that I couldn’t get through the bullshit trailer. Talk about Suck City. Ugh.
Talk about completely changing a title. Who knows? The publishing company may have changed the author’s title to ANISC. In that case, publishers/editors also need to leave the artist’s title alone. “Being Flynn” makes it sound like we’re going to be looking at the world through the eyes of Nick, with him being the focal point of everything else. From the trailer, it appears to be a story about an event: what happened when a boy and his estranged father, who are both writers and writing memoirs, meet by chance at the homeless shelter where the boy works.
Speaking of De Niro, one can come up with numerous workable titles for The Deerhunter but “The Deerhunter” worked out.
Not bad. This may get 12 bucks out of me.
looks pretty interesting to me
