Here’s a first look at Project X, the $12 million budget, hard R-rated comedy from Warner Bros that marks the directing debut of British video/commercials director Nima Nourizadeh. The project was deliberately crafted to be populated with a cast of complete newcomers, and it was creatively godfathered by Todd Phillips and Silver Pictures. It opens March 2. Seems to be high on the debauchery scale and it will be intriguing to see Warner Bros work it, since the budget is probably the catering budget on most Warner Bros films.

Perhaps this is the kind of movie that will get those young folks back to the theater. Looks like a fun time right in time for spring break. Plus the Todd Phillips factor doesn’t hurt.
groundbreaking. heterosexuals are so creative! can we see the two girls making out again?
Sure, right after we watch horsey-faced, writer Carrie Bradshaw shop for shoes, drink martinis at lunch with her fabulous friends, and pick which rich, good-looking guy to choose from.
Heteros don’t corner the market on cliches.
I liked it better when it was called Skins: First Generation.
I liked YOU better when you had a job and didn’t have time to write on comment boards all day.
That said, this looks like it could work.
Ironic that the person above me calls out some for “not having a job” because they post on a blog, yet he/she takes time out to post a comment of their own. Some people really are stupid.
So, you don’t have a job either?
This looks like a hit. Feels cool, promises comedy, Todd Phillips pedigree.
Done. I’m there.
I am hearing this is MUCH better than CHRONICLE.
i heard CHRONICLE is MUCH better than this
I am hearing the only thing these two movies have in common is teenage leads so why try and compare them.
What I’m not hearing is a point to your comparison.
I like it better when it was called THE VIRGINITY HIT.
I thought the same thing, except this looks more disaffected-British youth-repulsive.
This looks damn good. From the trailer, it looks brilliantly shot, well acted and with Todd Philips as a creative producer I feel story, pacing, character and set piece gags will all deliver. Feels likes superbad with more sex and less comedy. I’m in.
Could the plants be any more obvious? What in this stupid, mashed up music video gives you the sense that it is “brilliantly shot” and “well acted.” Pathetic.
This looks pretty horrible. Count on Hollywood to pander down to the basest insincts of young people with a calculated, dumb, low-budget exploitation film.
I thought Todd Phillips was better than this.
Look at all the Warner Brothers studio plants sent here to tell us how hip and cool this piece of tripe is. It will do Prom numbers or less. Teens don’t have money because their parents no longer have jobs. They can see this kind of thing at home on MTV.
why did u think todd phillips is better than this?
Is this theatrical or direct to video?
Exactly. There’s not really a premise here other than “what I did when my parents left me the house for the weekend.”
As someone above stated, this will do PROM business. Hope only limited release is planned.
Since it cost nothing to make and should lend itself to viral marketing… why not? The studio might get a nice little return on this.
Lots of deep, meaty, three-dimensional character roles for women in this one.
…or men for that matter. What, exactly are you expecting?
This might be considered fresh if it was released in 1998.
Ah, what happened to the good old days of John Hughs high school movies
Couldn’t agree more.
What racially and ethnically diverse casting.
Shows you the power of having a name behind your project. This idea/script has been pitched probably 146 times in the past six months. High school guys throw the best party ever to be cool/make-out with hot chicks.
I wish it looked funnier.
Pedigree is good but instead of feeling like it’s a lot of fun, from the trailer it feels desperate and sort of sad. Over nerdy guys who throw the kickass party to get the girls. Isn’t that like jr. high school shit? Will the kids this is mostly aimed at 13-18 be able to even get into this movie?
Hey whatever, it’s cheaply made, with make a bunch of money and I’ll never second guess Todd Phillips. Okay, except on Due Date.
Another movie pandering to the LBGT community.
Seem odd that there’s no comedy in the trailer?
will this be the final nail in the coffin for Silver?
are you insane?
Wait, where’s Matthew Broderick and what happened to the monkey? Did they recast the Helen Hunt part as a cute little dog?
Nice one.
Nima is a great commercials and promos director. Him and Saam really were the heart and soul of Partizan in London. Nice to see him doing a movie where he isn’t limited to a PG-13. Looks like Adidas used the concept on his House Party Commercials. I like the tone. I like the director and I like watching 2 girls make out
Bring it on
This looks horrible. Is that all Hollywood has to offer now — shakey-cam movies that look like they were shot on an iPhone? I’m sure the director is more talented then this…
The dream is always the same. Instead of going home, I go to the neighbors’. I ring, but nobody answers. The door is open, so I go inside. I’m looking around for the people, but nobody seems to be there. And then I hear the shower running, so I go upstairs to see what’s what. Then I see her…
This movie looks like crap. Where’s the comedy? Instead I just get to watch a bunch of teenagers hump each other, drink and act stupid. Groundbreaking.
