A report in the Wall Street Journal has Howard Stern in talks with NBC to succeed Piers Morgan as host of America’s Got Talent, working alongside Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne. Stern is a huge fan of the show and has often spoken of his wish to be a judge on one of these programs. It has been a big week for the Sirius XM morning man, whose interview with Brett Ratner was a big reason the filmmaker was prompted to resign as producer of the Academy Awards. According to WSJ, Stern’s looking at $15 million a year to judge.

Beth O slipped up today during her interview. She implied that Howard has received a shooting schedule for “America’s Got Talent” and is looking to see if it interferes with his lifestyle.
And guess who wants this more than anyone? Howard is literally drooling over the money and the exposure.
It will never happen…I hope.

Stern is a heck of a lot more entertaining than the contestants. I’d be much more inclined to tune in. Hopefully, NBC doesn’t put to much of a muzzle on him.

The show is about the talent on stage, and Howard will dominate the show to bring the focus on himself. This, unfortunately, has been impacting the other shows where the talent judging is more important than the competitors.
Howard is a funny, bright man…but, take away the lesbians, sex stories and other Stern staples, and he won’t have much left. I know it is called showbiz, but I think there are others who can be a judge and do better than Howard would in this environment. I had similar feelings about Steven Tyler, but he proved to be much better than I imagined…but, being a rock star versus ‘wanting’ to be a rock star are quite different credentials.
I would not call this a personal problem…just an opinion.
$15 million for a judge on, ahem, a third rate talent contest show? Don’t NBC’s own The Sing-Off and that other one with Cee-Lo Green get better ratings than America’s Got Talent?

I doubt Howard will do it but if he did I’ll watch it for the first time.
Howard is the only person that would actually get me to watch this show! People might be surprised that he would make be a well spoken judge who would make a damn good addition and bring some great comedy to the show.
He’s not the crazy shock jock he once was that everyone (incorrectly) thinks he would be on the show.. He is smart and he is a pretty damn funny comedian.

oh man – when I heard news Piers was leaving, I was ready to tune out… If Howard Stern replaces him, consider me MORE EXCITED THAN EVER!!! Genius, Genius, GENIUS move… he’s a comedic force to be reckoned with… and people need a free dose of him again, in this economy.

Saying Stern is bigoted proves you have never listened to a minute of his radio show. He is, at times, a complete opportunist for spectacle. He is NOT a bigot, by any means. He speaks openly about regretting ever using the word “fag” on the airwaves, as he used to in the 90′s.

Great idea! I’ve never even watched that show (and I’m not a Sirius subscriber) but I would definitely watch it with Stern. He’s consistently one of the funniest talk show guests out there, and I think could inject a TV show with some great comedic energy.
