Jimmy Kimmel famously skewers the president of ABC every year at the network’s upfront presentation. Now he will get to do it to the president of the United States. The host of ABC’s late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been tapped to headline the next White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on April 28, 2012. He succeeds recent hosts of the event Wanda Sykes, Jay Leno and most recently Seth Meyers last year. “Jimmy’s humor is sophisticated and edgy while appealing to a wide audience,” said Caren Bohan, a Reuters journalist and WHCA president. Said Kimmel, “I look forward to being a part of the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. I love dinner.” The WHCA dinner is attended by the President and First Lady as well as other senior government officials and members of the press corps accompanied by a slew of celebrities.

You gonnna talk about Obama’s preacher screaming “God DAMN White America!” for over 15 years at him while he clapped and amen-ed?
You gonna talk about the FLOTUS finally feeling good about her country when her half-Kenyan reparationist husband was elected??
This event is normally carried live on C-SPAN which is a good opportunity for Kimmel–he’ll easily have 10x the audience he normally has for his little imaginary TV talk show.
Sarah Silverman would have been a better choice.
If anyone can do this, Jimmy Kimmel is the man!
He is probably the most underrated late night host, yet one of the most entertaining.
Definitely looking forward to this.
It’s a great choice. Profane is not edgy. He’s smart, has a talented writing staff and will stir things up without being as revolting as some of the comments above.
Kimmel sucks. With that squinty face. Just wear glasses
The dude went on Jay Leno’s 10PM show and kept making fun of him for the whole Conan thing even though Leno kept trying to change the subject. He has balls, and this will be fun.
His writing staff can be funny. He is not funny. He isn’t quick, clever or charming. He relies on a few gifted people to come up with his material and if this is the best talk show on television then the world of television is in worse shape than one would think.
Kimmel is not funny. I have not seen conans new show but I think they should have giving it to him or louis ck.
