Max Irons is getting the role of Jared in The Host, the adaptation of the science fiction novel by Twilight author Stephenie Meyer that will star Saoirse Ronan and be directed by Andrew Niccol, who wrote the script. This comes after Jake Abel became frontrunner to play the role of Ian. The derby for the role of Jared included a small circle of actors including Liam Hemsworth (also a finalist to play Bruce Willis’ son in A Good Day To Die Hard), Kit Harington and Jai Courtney. Open Road acquired the film for domestic distribution. UTA and UK-based Tavistock Wood rep Irons.

I prefer Kit Harrington (looks the part and has above average acting chops) so I’m not sure how I feel about Max. Does anyone know if he’s a good actor?
And this, too?
Here! Here! Mr. Miley Hemsworth needs to go away and his PR team trying to beef up his worth by rumoring him in projects needs to stop. There are many more deserving and far more talented actors for the roles the untalented Hemsworth is forced into.
Second that motion.
Praise the Lord Mr. Miley did not sleep his way into another lead role. Down with Liam Hemsworth!
Someone on this project didn’t see Red Ridding Hood. This guy was horrible in that movie. He just looks pretty pouting, that’s about it. Poor Saoirse, how did she get trapped in a Twilight type movie when she is one of the best actresses of her generation?
Money.
I can’t comment on Irons since I haven’t seen any of his works, but there are clear signs to why Ronan signed on to this.
A) script is written by Andrew Niccol
b) it will be directed by Andrew Nicool
c) she was offered to play a dual role – a rarity for such a young actress
d) The Host is part sci-fi. Andrew Niccol does sci-fi.
Yay Nepotism!!
I’m too old for Saoirse Ronan but I think she’s one of the most stunning girls I’ve ever seen. Her acting chops are of the scale. I have to admit I couldn’t care less about the male leads. Saoirse in a dual role will be worth the price of admission.
Apparently most book fans think otherwise since she’s doesn’t “fit the pictured” the character of Melanie/Wanda in their heads. Stick to being BOOK fans, BOOK fans.
